It is easier to understand how he feels in the original text than it is in the graphic novel, as it took out most of the interaction between Victor and Walton. Victor was scared that his monster was going to show up and kill Elizabeth, so he sought out to protect her at all costs. But in doing so he left her alone to check the house, ultimately ending in her death, he was then filled with regret and anger. Overall, the graphic novel did a better job describing/showing these actions and feelings. Where the text just describes his remorse, the graphic novel shows the remorse in the way rushes and in his face when he realizes what was happening. Walton doesn't know whether to listen to the monster or to attempt to kill it. Ultimately he decides to listen to it and that causes even more conflict emotionally, because on one hand he wants to listen to the monster and try to understand it and on the other he wants to keep his promise to Victor and avenge him. Out of the two the graphic novel does a better job portraying this than the original text. It explained everything the same as the original but it also showed how Walton was feeling rather than just describing it.
