Many students have difficulty doing solubility graphs. We teach this using a diagram on the board and they follow along with us. To differentiate, we could do this in three separate groups. One group will stay in the room for whole group discussion and graphing using the regular assessment questions. Another group will use modified questions which are at a lower level. The third group will receive small group instruction to ensure understanding.

We teach students about the different social classes in Ancient Egypt. We could differentiate using the social classes so that students are completing different assignments via their social class. One group would write, prepare, and perform their own skit. Another group could perform a pre-scripted skit.

Coordinate Graphing

The students could do a project where they have to create a picture on a coordinate plane and then create the matching directions to graph the point. For students who are doing well, they could work with graphing rational numbers, working with calculating distances, and other activities. The kids who are struggling could focus on whole number graphing and just focus on graphing all four quadrants.

We talked about what regions are and from there we did projects - posters, google slides, packing a suitcase, writing a brochure, performing a skit. Whatever a student feels are their strengths, they will be able to chose that method of learning.
