For this event, we could do it in houses. Each candy/chocolate would have a paper attached to it, and once someone finds it, they could give the paper to a student council member and tell them their house. The house with the most points win. We could also possibly sort it in difficulty, whereas chocolates/candies which are harder to find are worth more points.

-Kay’ien :)

Why putting the bags outside is not a good idea:

Firstly, every Monday, a specific teacher orders us to put our bags outside the cafeteria, which causes a lot of issues. One of the reasons is blocking up hallway space; we lack pegs so many people put their bags down on the floor, leaving people to crawl and stepping over personal belongings when trying to exit the cafeteria. This not only dirties our belongings, but makes it harder for people to get out. In addition, if we want to put away our lunch card or get water bottles, we’d have to dig through the pile of bags just to put away something - it is quite inconvenient! The possible solution would be to let us put our bags on our seats, we do this every other day and no teacher has an issue with it. We make sure not to put our bags on the cafeteria floor so others can get across with ease, and students don’t have to worry about putting their bags away while lining up for lunch.

-Kay’ien :)

Do we need a universal law for detentions?

The answer is yes, we do. This is important because depending on the personality of the teacher (whether they’re easygoing or strict), it decides what is considered a detention and what is not. For issues like forgetting to bring books continuously, I do agree that is a reasonable detention, but another example experienced by my friend, she received a detention because the teacher thought she was looking out the window; this is clearly quite unfair. I am not sure if she got logged, but she took 20 minutes out of her lunchtime for 3 times in a row. A universal law should be created about what is decided as a detention, so teachers can follow accordingly and students will know how to behave. They shouldn’t have to worry about doing something as simple as touching tissues for a detention. Perhaps the teachers can come together to agree on a reasonable law: it shouldn’t be too strict or lenient, so students will receive punishments when needed. Of course, classroom rules should still be enforced, but to some students, detentions are considered a serious matter and should need some thinking when deciding what is worthy and what is not.

-Kay’ien :)

EASTER EVENT: egg deco contest!

I’m sure I don’t see as many people participating in the lunchtime events/activities, so we could try doing this event during each year group’s art class time. Just like how we based a day of drama on Happiness Day, we could do the same for art during Easter. We would pick the week closest to Easter, and ask the art teachers for possible permission, which involves everyone in participating and trying their best! With fake eggs, students can paint and design their very own egg however they please, and the art teachers can decide the best egg from each year group, which later on competes for the entire school. They can also showcase it and put it on the blog.

-Kay’ien :)

I think if people would want to bring their own basketball they could but some people don't have their own so they have to borrow from the school which sometimes there is not enough for everyone. A suggestion is that we could have 1 or 2 big baskets of basketballs (which include 5 basketballs in each basket?) in all of the basketball courts so there is enough for everyone to use.

queenie

EATING IN THE ATRIUM

It is often in the Phase 1 that teachers won't allow people with school lunches to eat in the atriums, and I've asked 3 teachers why we do this. One said that it was because they didn't want people sharing food, and another teacher just said that it was a TES rule. And the final teacher said that we weren't allowed to eat there at all. So is there a universal rule of where you can sit or where you can sit in lunch time? Because I think we should, because different teachers have different rules and it's confusing.

Henry
