Latin Pop is a genre I listen to every now and then, but not really. Latin Pop in today’s world has changed a lot from what it used to be. Although the genre is mainly about bringing people together and having, the different turn it took recently is bringing in other artists from different genres and working together. A well-known song is Despacito, which was written by two Latin artists and Justin Bieber. It became a record breaking song over the summer. From a cultural standpoint most people are ready to embrace something new and different. You have people who don’t even speak Spanish but still try to learn to the lyrics to sing along. It isn’t just with Spanish music either, there’s people who listen to music in other languages such as Korean Pop or African music. I’ve always liked Latin Pop, it was something I grew up listening to around family, but it’s not the main genre I listen to. I grew up in Atlanta so every time I wasn’t home I always heard hip-hop and R&B everywhere else, it’ll always be my go-to music, but Latin Pop will always be a part of my culture.
