In 1963 Mandela was accused for being involved in an armed organization that was against the interests of the country.He was arrested and jailed for 27 years.

During his years of prison,Nelson Mandela was forced to hard physical work,but he never stopped reading,studying and writing.He learned the Afrikaner languages and he studied politics and history.

AFTER THE PRISON

On February 11^th, 1990, Nelson Mandela was released from Cape Town prison. After his release - ordered by the South African president F.W. de Klerk - "Madiba" becomes the symbol of the struggle against Apartheid and continues to fight to defeat racial segregation.
