Find the column for the modules you completed. Click "+" under your module's column to add your reflections on that module. Title your new card with your name. Address: 1. The new skills you learned in that module; 2. Any challenges, questions, or frustrations you had with that module; 3. Thoughts on how you might use that modules in your (future) role as an educator. If you don't find a column for your lesson then go all the way to the right and click on the plus and add a column for your lesson.

I also learned how to navigate Google Docs better, such as inserting links and sources and utilizing the Title and Headers text.
There weren’t any challenges. The video was very easy to follow and had step-by-step instructions on how to create the Cyberbullying Community Guidelines.
I would use this cyberbullying community guideline in the future if I were to host a workshop on cyberbullying. I feel that cyberbullying is very prominent and is a huge problem that a lot of youth/people face today so this guideline would be helpful in helping students identify ways that they can prevent or seeks help if they or someone they know is a victim of cyberbullying.

I also obtain the skills of editing and adding points to the Google Form.
I think the biggest challenge was just completing the Google Form. There were a lot of steps, but it was simple to follow along with the video. The video did a great job of explaining what to do.
I would use Google Form in the future as a counselor by maybe creating a form that asks about students' mental health. It would be a quick check-in form that I can send to students before meeting with them, or even helping to identify students that may need counseling services.

I learned how to create a study schedule using Google Sheets. I was already familiar with using Microsoft Excel, but Google Sheets is somewhat different, so this was an actual learning experience for me. I learned how to wrap text so that the column is neatly organized and therefore readable. I also learned how to freeze rows of text so that it may be seen at all times, even when scrolling down in the document. I use a calendar on my white board to display when assignments/projects are due, and I study based on those dates. Using a study schedule like the one I learned how to do will keep me on-task, as sometimes I procrastinate for a few days. I was not frustrated during this learning experience. I would use this as a teacher to demonstrate to my students how they can take the initiative and improve their grades on exams. Many students, including myself in high school, despise studying. But if I demonstrated to them that they could study little-by-little instead of for chunks of hours at a time the night before the test, then perhaps they could receive better scores. I could create false due dates that are worth only a small amount of points. This will motivate some to complete the "assignment" in time. I believe a study schedule is very helpful, and easy to create, but harder to follow. It will still be incumbent on the students to either check their schedule regularly or set alarms on their cell phones so that they are reminded to study each day. That is why I prefer to use a white board. I'm not sure if I will convert to a digital schedule just yet, but I believe my students, who are much younger and familiar with technology then I am, might find success.

I have created portfolio before, so I chose this lesson to see if I could learn any additional information. I was exposed to Google Sites, something that I had never heard of before. I learned that there are many ways to edit and personalize a portfolio, and that considering the world we live in today, perhaps a digital portfolio is most effective. Digital portfolios have many advantages, including the endless customization possibilities. I created a brief portfolio that I assigned to my class that contains my resume and the portfolio that I designed for my physical education Curriculum and Administration of PE class last spring. It is a lengthy document (60 pages), but definitely worthy of inclusion. I published my Site for all to see. I did not know that using Google will enable anyone to search for my portfolio. I believe this is both an awesome and scary concept. I found it vital that the narrator instructed users, who could be younger than me, to never post anything that they wouldn't want others to see, and then provided examples of this, because I'm sure adolescents would not have been certain as to what constitutes as sharable or not. I plan to use my Google Site in the future, especially once I earn my teaching credential and start to gain experience teaching. Right now, my portfolio is too thin. If I am teaching a junior or senior level course in high school, then I would consider teaching this lesson to prepare my students for the outside world. I would also offer help that did not have an expiration date, meaning that later in life if one of my students had questions regarding their portfolio, I would be happy to give them my time.

In this lesson I am learning how to link slides together in order to create a story where the reader is able to choose the path they wish to take. This skill allows the creators to link two or more routes on each slide creating a unique path for each reader. In regards to this lesson there were very few issues or questions that arose. This lesson gave both written and visual directions on how to correctly put together this slide style. The only questionable issue that arose was how people are all able to link multiple slides; this means that there could be confusion on where the likes are coming from and going. This issue, however, can be remedied by making sure there is a lot of good communication between peers. When teaching my future class how to use Google I would love to use these videos. These videos, which use visual as well as literary instructions are great at giving students clear instructions to ensure that they are able to do the assignment correctly as well as simply.

I was able to learn how to create a quiz on google forms. The lesson did such a great job at explaining and giving tips such as how to make it more challenging. I like to be as organized as I can, and the lesson for google drive to organize files gave me so many great new ideas!

What challenges, questions, or frustrations do you have?

It does seem like a lot of technology and I am not a very techy person. However, the lessons did a great job at explaining and walking you through step by step and made it very easy to understand and do.

How might you use these modules in your (future) role as an educator?

The quiz in google forms I will be able to use in the future to quiz my students on the material being covered in class and it will also allow me to track their progress and see if i need to recover anything. The google drive to organize will help me organize all my files for each class since I will have more than one due to the fact I will be teaching at the high school level.

Evaluate the tools you choose to investigate as to their effectiveness, engagement capabilities, and ease of use.

I think the quiz one can be very effective because it can help you track your students progress and if there might be a specific subject you might need to cover again. The students can also make their own quiz and share it with their classmates. It is very easy to use after watching the lesson on it. As for the google drive to organize files I strongly believe it can be very effective. I have used it as a student and it helps me stay organized and allows me to find files quickly. I am sure it will be just as helpful if not even more as a teacher. Students can share files and work on them together. It is also quite easy to use and very straightforward.

However, I am finding it difficult to see how I can input certain math symbols. I need to look into how I can do that.
As for the google sheet and finding the probability of a certain problem, it is a faster method but it still has some setbacks. For instance, there are many steps that you need to follow and how to type in the commands correctly. I can see this being very difficult for my students to follow along. Another issue with this video is that this information seems very limited to only find a probability of a problem. I will need to look more into google sheets to see if I can plug in other math equations so that I can incorporate this into other math lessons.

In this lesson I learned how to use Google drawings to create a logo that represents my personal interest and reflects who I am. I first listed five words and phases that describes who I am. I then selected one shape for my logo and added several colors and text using different fonts. I also created more shapes inside my logo. I felt a bit frustrated when doing this because I had a hard time aligning /connecting the shapes. For instance, I created a dog's face using the shapes, it was challenging to align the eyes, mouth, and ears. However, after a few times trying I was able to create a dog's face. I really enjoyed doing the logo it was fun and made me reflect on who I am and how I want others to see me as. I think this is a great way to get to know students better. As a future educator, I plan on assigning this as a project to my students at the beginning of the school year. I will be able to learn more about them and they can reflect on they truly are. They will be able to have fun and be as creative as they want.

I learned how to use simple tools within google slides in a more creative way. Using shapes with text actually made it feel like a game which is something you want within a scavenger hunt. For example, there was an arrow that said "click for the answer." Questions were asked in an encouraging way rather than making it feel like a quiz or test. The lesson was very straight forward and engaging, so there were not any challenges I had with it. However, the tech task of having to show evidence was a little difficult for me to start. I did not know how I was going to go about it, but I decided to show and tell how I got through the lesson. This would be a fun way to get students to learn about a topic. As an educator, I would use this to "teach" a concept in class that can be taught through brief explanation and detailed imagery where the students can find on a website.

In this lesson, I learned how to prepare for the FAFSA using Google Excel Sheets. I have had previous experience with Google Excel Sheets with previous statistics classes. However, I had never used it to organize a plan for FAFSA. Through this module, I was able to create an Excel Sheet and organize documents needed from FAFSA into the excel sheet. First, I had to explore the FAFSA website and jot down the documents needed. The video was easy to follow as it walked you through the steps and had a transcript available. At the end of each video, it summarized what they needed the student to do. The biggest challenge has to be using data validation. Data validation gives individuals the opportunity to use a drop-down menu. In this case, the drop-down menu was used to list whether the student had received the specific document, was missing the document and/or had requested the document. This helped the student stay on board with their documents. I think this is very helpful and will be used in my future career with my high school students pursuing college! FAFSA could be very overwhelming with gathering documents from yourself and other family members. Therefore, this will be helpful in keeping all of their documents in one area and tracking down documents still needed. This will also keep the student accountable and there should be no reason that FAFSA rejects or delays their application.

I liked that google forms users are able to add different type of questions such as multiple choice, true/false, short answer, etc. It is easy to create a quiz and educators do not have to spend time on grading each one because it automatically grades the quiz. Users can add an answer key and point value for each question. As a future educator, I plan to use google forms as an exit ticket. This will help me check for understanding and it will let students and myself know their strengthens and weaknesses on a topic.

This lesson focused primarily on cyberbullying but the same process can be used for other topics if needed. Cyberbullying is a relevant topic for some students because they have a presence on social media. Traditional bullying typically occurs on the school campus but cyberbullying can be ongoing. That is why this lesson is particularly important for educators to be aware of. Forms are a great way to gauge student’s knowledge and understanding of a topic. The topic that I used was cyberbullying because I created a lesson on it in my first lesson. I will be utilizing Google Forms in my practice as a school counselor because I like that the results are instantaneous and the results can be broken down by response, individual, or question. Another great feature is that the results can be made into a Excel Worksheet. The fact that it can be linked to Google Classroom is also great because grading is automatic. I really recommend this lesson. It was simple and easy to follow.

I am learning how to use Google Forms. I have used them as a student to answer quizzes and fill out forms, but I had never created anything in Forms before.

One frustration I had with forms is the way the multiple choice grid looks. I personally do not like it and find it odd to use for a quiz. I also found the tiles on Forms to be a little redundant. Questions can have a brief description or you can type in the directions. I feel like tiles just repeat information and take up space.

Seeing as a lot of schools in California use Google Classroom and other Google products, I can definitely see myself using Google Forms. I would use Forms for low-stakes quizzes. (Reading comprehension quizzes, formative assessments, surveys, or reflections.) It’s an easy way to quickly gather information that can show students’ learning. I would not place such a huge point value on these assignments because they are not meant for that and are online.

Forms was very straightforward and easy to navigate. As far as effectiveness, I believe they are the best apps to use because I do not know of any other applications that allow for this. I think engagement capabilities are fairly low for Forms on the students’ part. This is because they merely answer the questions although they do have to think about the answers.

I did not have much questions about this module, I think the only challenging part was learning how to use “wrapping text” to change the text’s physical layout appearance.

Using module has been very helpful, I was able to learn how to use google forms to create questions for science vocab words. What I learned was how to create different questions like multiple choice, true or false, and mix and match using multiple choice grid. Google forms is a great tool for teachers to create quizzes instead of having to type the quiz and printing it. With google form I can add an answer key and choose how many points the questions will be. After students are done completing the quiz it will be graded automatically and I can see their score or a summary of how the average class did. The only issue I ran into was adding a description box to the questions, I was a bit confused on that part, other than that it was easy and straightforward to use google form to create a quiz.

This module shows users how to create an animation through google slides. The process is fairly simple and is similar to previous animation techniques used on TV and film. The process works by making an image and then slightly changing it over time. By putting all those images together you can make the visual look like it is moving. To make this animation you first start off with an initial image on google slides. You can use the various tools to add shapes and lines to create your desired image. You then duplicate that slide and change it just a little. You repeat this process and make adjustments to the images until you complete the animation you wish to create. I created an animation of a bacterial cell engulfing a food particle.

What new skills are you learning?

After completing this module, I learned how to create animations using Google slides. This application makes grading a lot easier and it will allow for students to receive their scores immediately.

I think that it is an effective way to quiz students on their level of understanding. It is engaging in that you can develop a variety of different types of questions, some may be easier for students than others (i.e. multiple choice, true or false). Google forms is extremely easy to use and I think that if I wanted to ask students to make their own quizzes to test each other, they would think the same.

In this module I learned how to use Google Sheets. I had fun completing it.

I think that this module can be useful in my role as an educator because I want to be a math teacher and finding the mean, median, and mode are subjects math teachers cover. A lot of jobs require individuals to use spreadsheets so this can be useful to them.

I think that this tool is very useful because it makes calculating extremely simple.

I learned how to use Google Drawings to make a poster about myself. I actually had a lot of fun creating it and I could definitely see using this in the future to get to know my students and have them get to know me too. It was very straightforward and I feel like even people that aren't that tech savy could figure it out. My only complaint is that a lot of the image search didn't yield a ton of great options for my more specific pictures I wanted. In this scenario I would just show the students how to get an image off google if they aren't finding what they are wanting.

I learned how to use google forms which I had only ever used as a taker and not as a creator. I was surprised how simple it was once I got the hang of it. I didn't realize how many different types of questions you could do in google forms. It was a little tricky at first trying to figure out all the settings and what to do for different types of questions but I got the hang of it pretty quickly. I also like that you can have it automatically grade for match, true/false, multiple choice, etc questions. It really is a great resource and I see myself using it in the classroom.

I have created a Google Quiz before, but I only knew how to add multiple choice questions and did not know how to add points to the questions. Now that I am able to use this tool more efficiently, I will definitely begin using this as soon as possible with my current students. I love that you are able to get results as soon as a student finishes and you are able to see if your students miss the same question and then can review that content area. Before you would have to use scantrons and then scan those, but first you would have to create the quizzes and print them out. Using a tool such as this will save educators a lot of time and help the environment by not using paper. I did not have any challenges using this tool, I thought it was very user friendly.

When deciding what Applied Digital Skill I wanted to learn, I decided on probability using Google Sheets. Using 2 dice, I wanted to see the probability of rolling an 8. Using probability in everyday life is important and people use it everyday. People from poker players to meteorologists.

The challenges I faced was that I am new to using spreadsheets. So getting used to all the different functions was a little bit challenging. Some of the frustrations I faced was that I had to rewind the video to refresh my brain about what was just said.

I would definitely use something like this in my class when teaching about probability. Having students actively engaged with the material and learning how to use Google Sheets or Excel is an important skill to have.
