1. A similar theme I noticed in each picture was that there was a main source of power. In each picture a person is showing that they have a lot of power.
2. Each picture is slightly different , you can tell each person is getting their power from something different . The first picture he is getting his power from the countries, the last picture his power is coming from the people.
3. One theme that I got from the last picture is control of the white people/dominance. I also see power themes, power of land . Like from the first picture, and power of land from the third picture , where the man is showing dominance of the land/country.

1) Every cartoon pictured expresses arrogance and the want for power.
2) The way that the want for power is portrayed varies based on the opinion of the artist and how passionate they feel about the subject.
3) Arrogance is represented through the cartoon's eyes. The main character frequently looks ahead, not directly at a certain person or place. This portrays that they feel that there is nothing important to look at, other than their success. Power is portrayed through the different sizing of the people and what they are holding or grabbing. Lastly, the white man's burden is also represented through what they characters in the cartoon are holding or doing. In several of the cartoons, a white male is grasping the power or a plan to benefit them/their country.

1. They all show a powerful European country attempting to change a less developed country in some way.
2. Drawing one and three are ver similar, showing a powerful country splitting its resources and reign over many lands. Picture two shows imperialistic countries making a treaty attempting to split china up into conquerable territories, while picture four shows a US man attempting to Westernize a native person
3. One theme is the men ruling these territories appearing larger than the undeveloped country

1. A similar theme portrayed is that there is one person that is big and looks important (shows power). It shows how they all are conquering a specific amount land.
2. The first picture is showing a man conquering many pieces of land at once. The second picture seems to be a man attempting to conquer a specific amount of territory. The third picture is showing a man conquering just Africa. The last picture is showing a main, big person while other objects are small.
3. In my opinion, I see arrogance, power, and land.

There are some differences like the actions being done by the dominant person.
3. A major theme is the dominance of the white race. Each picture depicts a white man with power over other people and countries.
Another theme is control. In one a person is standing over the country of Africa, which shows his conquest and control of the country.

1. The cartoons are portrayed in a similar way because there is a white man who is seems to be larger and in charge, as well as a lot of dominance.
2. There are a few differences, but the differences are more about what or who the white man is doing/conquering/guiding instead of what the main theme is.
3. I see themes of power, land, and control.

1.) In each representation of Imperialism, there is a theme of dominance and strength portrayed. Taking what is thought to be rightfully theirs is a common thought of most Europeans and we can see that in these pictures. Magnified versions of people show how large they are compared to certain countries or other races
2.) In the last picture, something that is different from the rest is the idea that the Europeans are trying to help Africans by physically carrying one to a school house. This, different from the other pictures, shows such an extended level of narcissism that they are forcing other races into this idea that they are actually being helpful. Really they are just too self-centered to realize what Africa may really want. It's the White Man's Burden.
3.) DOMINANCE is the biggest idea that catches my eye in each picture. Having the ability to control other countries and groups of people makes the Europeans so important to the development of the world.

Sometimes the landscape is beautiful and untouched in others they land is trampled and destroyed
3. The white men in the pictures are portrayed have controlling and all powerful as they stand on top of the countries and trample them.

1. All of the cartoons show a white man seeming large and powerful, showing the sense of superiority during imperialism.
2. They are slightly different in that some of them portray the European man as a hero, while others show him as a villain.
3. One theme, of the ideas of white supremacy comes through in these cartoons because a white man is shown as larger than other figures, or exerting some sort of power. Another theme is the white man's burden, as shown in the last picture where the man is carrying a native person towards a school, symbolizing the way they felt they needed to educate those that they conquered. Also, the way european countries were spread all across the world.
