This site provides great context on how temperance started. Turns out temperance started in the 1830s and was only advocating for abstinence from hard liquor and drinking other liquor in moderation. It also tells us how the movement went for it's beginning years. it wasn't very successful with Civil War veterans.

https://www.legendsofamerica.com/ah-prohibitionspeakeasy/

I really like the look of this website. It has a nice design. It also has quite a few more pictures than the first website. It explains slang for alchohol like coffin varnish white mule, horse liniment, monkey rum, panther sweat, rot gut, and tarantula juice. These were used to trick officers.

http://theroaringtwentieshistory.blogspot.com/2010/06/prohibition-and-speakeasies.html

This is an Anti-Prohibition protest. They are saying they should be able to some home and drink a beer after a long day at work. They are using phrases such as "Beer for Prosperity", "Very Few Work", and "Balance the Budget". This connects to the current day because a lot of people drink beer after work and would hate to have that taken away.

Speakeasies started to appear after the 18th Constitutional Amendment was passed causing the Prohibition. They were secret bars that sold alcohol illegally to those who bought it. Speakeasies had many names throughout their time of operation including Blind Tigers, Blind pigs, and Juice Joints. They had a hidden room with barely drinkable booze and were mostly run by gangsters. They often had customers that were Flappers too. Flappers were basically just girls with short hair and short skirts. Some of the speakeasies from the 20s are still around today. One of these still open is the Landmark Inn. They also booked jazz acts like Louis Armstrong, Fats Waller, and Fletcher Henderson.
