My students say that I look like a shark, but it works! I use pathways throughout my class to circle/walk around student groups to monitor behavior, focus, and work. I can use this while going over notes or moderating discussions. But I often use it when students work to check-in or assist students during an activity. I can provide guidance or answer direct questions without students stopping.

Implementing Timers

Set a timer on the board when students are given classroom assignments. There are some really cute timers on YouTube and often they play relaxing background music. Canva presentations allow for the embedding of timers right into your classroom slides. Timers really help to hold students accountable for managing their classwork.

I have a student in each class be our "class Siri". Anytime I have a student ask a question that they should already know (ie where are the pencils, or what did you just say). I have them call out "Hey Siri" and my student Siri answers the question instead of me. This has greatly cut down on my frustration with kids asking the same questions, like 'Ms Pearce do you have a charger".
