Although his invention of of filaments has been outdated, he will forever be known for his advancements in both filaments and light bulbs, and how he made lighting practical and affordable. Lewis Latimer was inducted into the Inventor Hall of Fame in the year 2006.<br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Latimer had found a way to create carbon filaments more durable by encasing them with simple cardboard, which led to not only affordability and practicality to all Americans, but also longer-lasting than previous filaments of the time. In 1890, Latimer wrote "Incandescent Electric Lighting: A Practical Description of the Edison System". A little while later in 1918, Latimer joined and became a member of Edison's elite research team--"Edison's Pioneers"--making further technological advancements with filaments and Edison's light bulb.</div>]]></description>
