America had won the war, so they made the terms of the treaty with the following rules. 
  • America is independent from Britain
  • British troops ordered to leave
  • America owned land west of the Mississippi, north of Florida, and south of Canada
  • Each side will repay debts owed
  • British will return all prisoners of war
  • Congress recommended states return loyalist property
America finally had a chance to govern itself without the tyranny of a king. They still had no idea how to correctly govern itself, leaving america as a divided country. War had united them, freedom had separated them. The states never really returned any loyalist property since most of them had already left the country.
