The assignment aims to help me practically design the various elements of my digital learning experience across different formats and develop a working prototype to apply the design and development processes seen in modules 4-8.

This document focuses on the creation of an Instructional Design Plan for learning aids - especially an infographic and its development of a working prototype as part of a digital learning experience. The infographic is essential and needed to guide the learner through the right steps in setting up the simulator for their hands-on learning experience from assignment 2 (What of learning 3. Module).

The instructional design plan for the infographic is structured as follows:

➢ Instructional design plan including:

Scope document and

Wireframe

➢ Commentary that will include reflections and learnings on the design and development process.

➢ Working prototype that will reflect the development process and design considerations laid-out in the scoping process and wireframing. For this purpose, I will be using Canva.

While working on it, I realized that the required infographic is essential and important for the learner training success.

Overall

Designing and developing a learning aid - specifically, a simple infographic - initially seemed like an easy task. However, I quickly discovered that the process was more challenging and time-consuming than I had anticipated, as I found myself drafting my assignment several times.

My primary goal was to create an accessible and visually appealing learning aid that provided just the right amount of content to avoid cognitive overload. Despite the challenges, I found the overall process to be very useful, and the steps were straightforward to follow.

This experience boosted my confidence in designing learning aids. However, I also recognize that I still have room to grow, particularly in the prototyping process.

Next steps

To build my confidence and competence in graphic design, I plan to spend more time on text and image placement. One of the challenges I faced was picking cohesive colours; therefore, learning more about colour psychology and effective colour pairing will be invaluable.

I also struggled with spacing and content alignment, which highlighted the importance of practising with different design platforms.

Additionally, I realized that creating a full outline of the resource text and selecting images before starting the design would have streamlined my workflow.
