Genie's case was too unique to be generalized to a larger population so there is reduced ecological validity and it is hard to lean anything from her case whereas Bowlby's study is also unique to that case study but the general theory there is that there is a link between maternal deprivation and delinquency, so his findings are a bit more useful, such as changing hospital visiting practices and giving advice to parents on how to avoid bond disruption.

Bowlby has been interviewing mothers to find out about relationship between the child and the mother and the separation experience. Curtiss was interviewing Genie's mother weekly, but their purpose was to find out more about Genie rather than just looking at their relationship. Irene was also an unreliable source of information.

With Genie the main aim should have been to try and help her recover rather than experimenting on her whereas with the juvenile thieves and because there was no clear cause-effect link at the start it wasn't wrong for Bowlby to make the study the priority. Both had informed consent from their parents.
