What is CPR?

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a life-saving technique that is useful in many emergency situations, such as a heart attack or drowning, in which a person's breathing or heartbeat has stopped.

What does it consist of?

First aid CPR consists of physical interventions to create artificial circulation by applying rhythmic pressure to the patient's chest so that the heart manually pumps blood (chest compressions) and usually also involves the rescuer introducing oxygen into the chest. the patient, applying mouth-to-mouth breathing or using a device to inflate the lungs and transfer oxygen into the blood. This is called artificial respiration. Some current CPR protocols downplay the importance of artificial respiration and focus on chest compressions only.

What is your main objective of CPR?

Its main objective is to maintain a flow of oxygenated blood to the brain and heart, which delays tissue death and increases the time available for resuscitation by health professionals without permanent brain damage.
