1. The author says that as a child, he believed in the concept of heaven and hell, that all men after death, would go to heaven or hell, depending on how they lived life. When he grew older, he started realizing how many of the things he was told were fictitious concepts. There is no life after death. Those who commit sins are punished during their lifetime, and not after it.

2. Realization has dawned on the poet that his childhood had flown by without him noticing. He is nostalgic, and feels sorry, reminiscing about this golden part of his life, and couldn't believe it was over. Children are innocent and brimming with life, and they have no care in the world, When they grow up, they are faced with the harsh realities of the world, and their hearts also learn the ways of contempt and hatred, no longer as pure and beautiful, and this change is inevitable

He realized that "hell" and "heaven" are merely imaginary concepts. They don't exist in the world of reality or even in geography books.
