How and why did your family come to the states?

My mom's parents came from Colombia and Italy, I will start with my grandma and great-grandparents. My great-grandparents came from Sicily. My grandpa who was from Colombia he and his family had come to America in plan due to economic problems within their home. The drug trafficking had also expanded and caused problems which my grandpa had advantage of it and used it to get to America which had benefited him and his family with having a source to get money.

What were the obstacles that they met?

My family on their way here had obstacles already being in Colombia lm not fully sure what they had to go through to get here but we can assume a struggle especially immigrating to a new country and having to start a new life with your family. Dealing wit the struggles of being in a foreign land and completely different than your home you can feel their struggle.

What was going on Historically in the U.S. during this time and did it affect your family?

"Building upon a long history of military and intelligence cooperation against communism during the Cold War, the US and Colombian governments engaged in a series of diplomatic exchanges during the 1970s to define the best approach to the growing traffic in marijuana and cocaine between the two countries. During the 70s in the states the drug trafficking and increased and spiked along with Colombia.
