So Shay doesn't? It really shows the depth of Shay's character and how she is as a person.

Through out Sam's story the main character faces trials that result in death. Now in contrast, Eraser Tattoo doesn't show death but it shows pain just as much. In Sam's story on page 6 it says, "I hit the cold water and felt my ears clog, my back ached from the pain of the tense water. The feeling soon faded much like my soul did, what was left of living and loving was no longer there. Just me and the water, how painfully tender it was to know I left a killer in pieces, and all for simply being a target." This really hit me, the writing Sam wrote really make the story come to life and I could imagine watching this or being the person dying in the story. It's such a profound moment that It had to be mentioned. Similarity yet differently, 'Eraser Tattoo' states on page 13, "And as they turned the corner, vanishing from sight, Dante glanced down at the S on his arm again. The burn. White where brown used to be. He knew the sting wouldn't last forever. But the scar would." Dante is feeling the pain in this moment. He knew that although Shay was leaving, he would see her again, the pain would not last forever, but the scar and the memories would.
