It is better for a child to be brought up in an extended family than in a nuclear family  in terms of developing interpersonal skills, dealing with conflicts and family time. First of all, children who live in an extended family would have better condition to develop interpersonal skills. A lot of research indicate that children from extended family often have better social skills than those from nuclear family, especially communication skill. An extended family contains not only parents but also grandparents and even aunts, uncles and cousins so that children have a lot of people to interact with. The result is they can communicate better with other people than those who mainly talking with only their parents when being at home. Additionally, dealing with conflicts is another thing that children can learn when being brought up in an extended family. When living under the same roof with more than 2 generations, arguments and conflicts, which hardly happen in nuclear family, are unavoidable.  After each time resolving arguments, everyone in the family can get closer and learn how to handle the conflicts between every members. Finally, children growing up in an extended family definitely have more family time than those in nuclear family. Parents and family members will spend more time together because the financial pressure is reduced. For example, the entire family will spend weekends or vacations together to spend time visiting or traveling. Nuclear families, as distinct to extended families, will spend a significant amount of time working and earning money to support their children. As a result, they will spend less time with their children and more time at work. In conclusion, there is no doubt that bringing up a child in an extended family is better than in nuclear family. 

TOPIC 2: Electric bicycles vs. Electric motorbikes

Reason for comparison: To explain the differences between the two so that high school students can choose the suitable ones for them.

Electric bicycles and electric motorbikes have some differences that high school students can consider to choose the suitable ones such as their prices, the eficiency of the battery and which one is safer. The price that the buyers have to pay to own one is the first notice. An electric bicycle is usually more affordable than an electric motorbike. In particular, an electric bicycle costs about 12 millions VND meanwhile an electric motorbike often costs from 18 to 20 millions VND. Beside the price, students should also consider the battery efficiency as an important factor when choosing one of this 2 types of electric vehicle. Typically they can expect somewhere between 25 and 70 miles of travel on a single charge of an electric bicycle. With the higher speed but the same capacity, an electric motorbike can travel a further distance than an electric bicycle on one fully charge. However, electric bicycles have pedals, which electric motorbikes don’t have. When they run out of energy, the users can pedal instead of walking. Last but not least, the buyers must know well about the safety of each type. Although it’s nearly the same with each other, there is a small difference between them in reality. Basing on the speed of these vehicle, it is judged that riding a electric bicycle is safer. However, the key factor  to protect the users here is obeying the traffic law and always wearing a helmet when riding the vehicles. All in all, the price, battery efficiency and safety are 3 main elements that high school students should take into consideration to distinguish electric bicycles and electric motorbikes  to choose a suitable electric vehicle for themselves.

1. STRESSFUL PARENT - CHILD RELATIONSHIP

There are a numerous reasons why there is stress in the parent-child relationship, but two stand out: parent’s misuse of authority and peer pressure on teens. First and foremost, parent’s misuse of authority is one of the primary reasons of strained relationships. In fact, a lot of parents nowaday still impose their thought on their child. For example, they don’t like the music that teenagers listen to so that they don’t allow their child to play that songs at home. Or they forbid their child to hang out with friends to stay at home and study. In these cases, the children tend to be rebellious and do the contrasting things. In general, their overcontrol lead to the discord in the relationship between them and children. Another cause of stress parent-child relationship is teen peer pressure. It’s reasonable that every parents want their child to achieve well at school to have a bright future. However, some of them consider that only studying hard is not enough and thry want their children to stand out and overcome their friends, their relative who are at the same age. This put their child under pressure cause the adults keep comparing them with the other children. As a result, they lost the harmony relationship between parent and child. All in all, parent’s misuse of authority and peer pressure on teens, for whatever reason, will cause friction in the relationship between parents and children.

2. THE RISING DIVORCE RATE

There are many factors related to the rising divorce rate, including laws making divorce easier and changing culture values. First of all, the growing divorce rate results from legislative changes. Nowaday, divorce has become easier than ever due to the changes in laws. Not strict as in the past that you have to show the evidence such as violence or adultery, today people can easily divorce just because they don’t want to live with their partner anymore. This contributes to the increasing of dicorce rate. Additionally, changing cultural attitudes  is also one of the keys of growing divorce rate. In the past when people in the old society were still conservative, they seriously shame the women that divorce with his husband. At that time when gender equality was not appreciated, the women had no right so that they didn’t dare to divorce. On the contrary, now people become more open-minded, there is no discrimination between man and woman. Both can get divorce with each other without judgement of society. Overall, divorce rates are on the rise due to two factors: simpler divorce laws and shifting cultural beliefs.

3. EXPLOITING NATURE

Although there are a variety of influences of exploiting nature, the extintion of animal species and the loss of forest seem to be the most common ones. Firstly, exploiting nature gives rise to the extinction of animal species. The act of overusing and destroying nature has affected seriously to the environment. In particular, it has caused global warming which made the climate become more severe. This is the main cause of the death of many species that lose their habitat or couldn’t adapt when the environment changes negatively. Another effects of exploiting nature is the loss of forest. Several years ago, for instance, many long-lasting forest-fires have occurred in Australia and it left many serious consequences. It resulted from the actions of human such as deforestation, hunting and overexploiting. It is said that it takes a very long time to replant the forest areas that had been lost in those forest fires. Taking everything into considerations, exploiting nature influences adversely to the environment, especially the extintion of animal species and the loss of forest. 

 

A lot of people buy lottery tickets everyday with the hope of changing their life;  however lotteries should be banned for these 3 following reasons. First of all, in my point of view, it's not a good chance to make money. Because of the limited number of the prizes, not many people are lucky enough to have that oppurtunity. It means that the rate that you can earn money from lotteries is very low. Additionally, I believe that lotteries are a waste of money. It costs the players 10.000 VND each day and 300.000 VND each month to buy lottery tickets but they hardly gain any prizes. Instead of buying lottery ticket, they can spend money on other need such as food, clothes, etc. Last but not least, I suppose that people who play lotteries can easily get addicted. When they buy a lottery ticket, whether they win or not, they may want to buy more and more ticket. They keep buying them everyday with the belief that oneday luckiness will come to them. All in all, for 3 above reasons, I couldn’t agree more that lotteries should be prohibited.
