During the class she tell us a bit about the course. She tell us about what we can expect when learning this subject. I am excited to learn this subject because i can get more exposure about the curriculum to prepare myself as teacher in future. 

 

In this course madam Fitriah tells us that we will learn about :

- Curriculum in Malaysian schools

- Course design

- What is instruction

- Teaching and learning

- Microteaching

 

She also tells us about the difference in curriculum between Malaysia and other country. i am excited to attend the class in the upcoming weeks. SEE YOU AGAIN GUYS :)

- new semester, new race

 

We are quite sure that most of our classmates did not have any experience doing shrouding of dead body in real life. We think by teaching this they can gain new experience and can apply it in future. See you again guys! Wait for it!

 

Teacher should adapt this knowledge and apply it in future to make student engage more in classroom activity. Teacher must encourage students to be confident and always get involved during activity to enhance 2 way communication in classroom. I can use the knowledge to apply during my microteaching later. See you soon guys!

This week, we also learn about curriculum. It includes hidden curriculum co curriculum and manyother aspect in it. I gain a lot of new knowledge during the class. 

 

From the class I learn that :

Curriculum - A plan of study. It is ocumented and cademic in nature

Co curriculum - Activities outside the classroom to support the curriculum. It is compulsory that includes Sports & games, uniform bodies, and association. It is for Personal/individual development

Hidden curriculum - Moral Values and Informal learning inside and outside the classroom. It is Unwritten / implicit

From Taba’s view, she believed that there has to be a definite order in creating a curriculum. The strength of Taba’s model are Teacher approach is used. Teachers are aware of the students’ needs therefore they are the ones that should develop the curriculum. The weaknesses is  it’s hard to balance among the needs and interests of students.  

 

We also learn about contemporary framework in curriculum. I try to jot down many important information for revision to prepare for the test. I also learn 4 aspect in Tylers model. The 4 aspects are: 

1. Determine the school’s purposes (aka objectives)

2. Identify educational experiences related to purpose

3. Organize the experiences

4. Evaluate the purposes

This week I learn about assessment and evaluation during the class. It also give me some new knowledge that I can use in future. 

 

What is an assessment?

What I understand is assessment is the systematic process of documenting and using data on the knowledge, skills, attitudes and beliefs. By doing assessment, teachers can try to improve student learning. 

 

Evaluation focuses on grades and may reflect classroom components other than course content and mastery level.

  

We also learn about implemented and intended curriculum during the class. Implemented curriculum refers to the actual activities being practiced in schools. It is the activity done in classroom to achieve intended curricular outcome. 

Intended curriculum refers to the objectives set at the beginning of any curricular plan.  Teacher must complete the goal, specific purposes and immediate objectives to be accomplished in classroom

- Early birds - 8am and already inside classroom :D

 

In my opinion, student nowadays must have a critical thinking to solve problem and cope with any situation to be able to compete with each other. They also must be able to make decision and learn to express their opinion. They must have critical thinking and creative thinking. Students also must have IT skills because the world nowadays requires skills with IT to make them become competitive and relevant in work market.

 

Values such as honesty and integrity are also important to develop a well-balanced person. I agree that future students and future generations need to have multiple intelligence and special skills to make them special and able to compete with each other healthily. This class gives a lot of expose for me about the real situation of current trend in our society. See you soon guys!!!

 

I tried my best during the test. The question was quite hard but I am satisfied with my answers. Pray for my success guys!!!!

 

The next presenter was Lesley and Adira. They teach us about feeelings. They have a very good teaching aid and their activity is also interesting. I can tell that they have put so much effort when preparing for their teaching aid. Shout out for them. My only recommendation is they must work on their class management because some students did not give attention when they were teaching. 

 

Finally, our turn has come. We start our teaching with set induction. We play a nasheed song from “Rabbani – Pergi tak kembali” and ask students to guess about our topic for today. The objective for our teaching was:

 

1 - Student can describe the meaning of shrouding

2 -Student can explain the steps of preparing shroud.

3- Student can discuss the shroud procedure for the dead male deceased from beginning to end.

 

We explain the definition and procedure to do shrouding. Most of the students look excited because this is their first time to do shrouding. We also bring the real equipment to display in front of the class. The student arrangement allows us to get nearer to the students. During the activity time, we split the group into 2. Aswad and Akmal were selected to become the model to be shrouded. The students give full cooperation during the activity.

 

As for the conclusion, we recap back the objective for today’s learning activity and tell students about the responsibilities as muslim and good moral values. We think we did a good job today because we get a very positive feedback from our classmates and the lecturer. Our only problem is lack of time management. But I am glad because we could finish the activity just on time. Till next time guys :D

The next teachers were Syuhada and Fahira. They teach us about planets in solar system. The also come with a very fun activity. Students were asked to create a song to remember the sequence of planet from the sun. They also come with many interesting facts. Fadzil and Asraf teach us mathematics and new formula. We can learn mathematics in an easier way.

 

 Amira and Aimashiha teach us to make sandwich inside the classroom. It was a very fun activity because it was students centered. The teacher just guide while all the students do the activity in group. At the end of the class we all can enjoy our own made sandwich. Thank you Amira and Shiha. They have invested some money to do that activity in classroom. 

 

The last teacher for that class is Syahmi and Hadirah Alysha. They teach us about color and shapes. Their activity was fun because we were given paper to color in group. They also use reward system by giving reward to group with the most excellent work. It encourages students to compete healthily with each other. That’s it for week 12. See you again guys!!!! :D
