This significant characteristic allows koalas to detect whether their food is poisonous or not. Another beneficial change in the koala is its paw. Because koalas spend most of their time in trees, their paws have rough paddings and 5 sharp claws. They use their specially designed paws for climbing and gripping the trees. Finally, koalas survive through rough weather utilizing their coat. Their coat is extremely important for the survival of the koala species by allowing them to survive hot and cold conditions, as well as absorbing moisture when it rains and when they swim.
