The subject splitting/having to separate elements is meant to represent how the world/minds/hearts of people are seperated and different from each other. However there is always empathy and understanding of each other that can bring us together.(represented by the EKG line)

in my opinion, although a heart is a good way to symbolise the concept of empathy, the heart being split apart seems quite gory as you mentioned just now. furthermore, it may be quite hard to even tell it is a heart given the idea of the shards of the heart which make the drawing a little complicated

my main problem with the heart is just the gory part of things though, not sure what delegates will feel about it and its quite risky

i feel like the concept of hands being a logo is much more "welcoming" than a split heart (due to it being kinda "gory") ngl, the concept of "reaching out" is there like you mentioned, and i think this still conveys the theme of empathy so its not bad either

Although it may be cliche using hands, i feel like if executed well (like u did in the sketch) it will be alright

also, the fingers on the hand on the right side of the picture look abit too pointy, maybe its just me but idt its supposed to look like that
