My proudest moment was when I completed my canvas project, because I do not usually paint very often in my spare time, so I was worried I would mess the painting up.

My greatest challenge was finding time to just sit down and complete the artwork. Since I do not paint often, I was at a loss sometimes on what I wanted to paint exactly, so the painting process took longer than expected and it was difficult to sit down and focus.

What is Music?
Music is creating a tune or rhythm for entertainment purposes. Both tune-making and rhythm-making encourage the listener to fill engaged and want to bob your head to the beat. They utilise sounds in a common beat to organise the rhythm or tune. The tempo also changes from the beginning to the end of the piece. The dynamics varies in volume. The timbre changes with the different instruments and items used to create the tune or rhythm. Pitch can change as well. We performed the song "Counting Stars" by OneRepublic with 3 ukuleles and 1 guitar. Since I had some experience with playing simple songs on the ukulele before, I chose to perform using the ukulele. I learnt that we can learn, surprisingly, a lot about playing an instrument from the internet. Although we barely knew how to play the ukulele or guitar at the beginning, we eventually got the gist of it and performed a piece. Tuning the guitar is still a difficult task as my pitch is not that good.

Composing this piece was fun, though we started off unsure on how to start. We first completed the verse using the 4 chords before making the guitar riff at the beginning. Lastly, we worked on the chorus and ending. The two choruses and verses used the same tune but we changed the lyrics. We hoped that this would resemble the order of a pop song and make the composition sound more authentic. We also made use of acoustic and electric guitars, keyboard and drums. After completing the composition, we then typed out our lyrics based on the theme "Never Giving Up". After we knew what our theme was, it was much easier to create lyrics as we had a main focus. When we presented it, it was funny to hear our own voices in the recording as it was a bit muffled making it hard to make out the lyrics.

Listening

Texture
Ours had less air pockets in our cupcake. The outermost layer was a little hard as we left it in the oven for a bit too long. Mrs Lee's was soft and fluffy.

Taste
Ours was a chocolate flavoured cupcake, while Mrs Lee's was a plain one with less sugar. Hence, it was hard to compare.

Which one would I choose?
Mrs Lee's plain cupcakes with less sugar. This is because hers had a softer texture and the taste of butter and egg was strong despite the cupcake being plain. While the salad acted as a colour enhancement to the presentation, it also made the dish more nutritious. I also made use of my manipulative skills. For example, I made white sauce, with some added seasonings (such as Italian seasoning).

Q2: I was able to make good use of my time, as I used it to the last minute in order to add on to my presentation. During the practical, I did not need to rush and had ample time for the lasagna to cook in the oven. A difficulty I faced was while adding seasoning to the white sauce. The cover of the Italian seasoning was not closed properly and when I tipped it in, the cap fell off and too much Italian seasoning fell in. As a result, I panicked and nearly burned my finger on the hot sauce pan. I overcame it by getting a spoon to scoop some out, but the sudden accident messed up my rhythm of making the lasagna. If I could do it differently, I would have been more careful in checking whether the seasonings were tightly capped. I would also calm myself down more quickly as the sudden mishap was not too difficult to rectify.

Q3: The healthy diet pyramid and recipe analysis were the most useful nutritional tools. It allowed me to ensure there was a balance in the types of food (e.g. carbohydrates, vegetables, protein) in the dish. It also helped me to keep track of how healthy the dish is. The manipulative skills were manageable, though I faced some hardships remembering the steps as the module taught me many new skills and I do not usually cook at home. I enjoyed the process of coming up with my final creation as I could watch many videos and learned what the different methods of cooking were. Yes, I managed to use darker colours for the parts which are less exposed to light, creating a more 3D effect in my artwork. I also ensured that the parts of the piece that are closer to the viewer are enlarged appropriately so the viewer can tell that specific areas stand out.

I used different sections of cutouts from a magazine to paste onto my face, in the lesson where we were to modify our faces without actually drawing on them. For example, I used the parts of an animal that had various colours textures to create contrast. I also used parts of a building to act as accessories, such as the roof which appears like a hat.

(3) Do you think you have convey the message of your work well?
Yes, my artwork shows the contrast between a world with a balance between nature and us, and a world which is overtaken by deforestation and industrialisation. The message can then be inferred as taking care of the earth because our actions decide our own future.

(4) Is there any part of your work that you think you had done well? Explain.
I think that I managed to do the blending rather well, which allowed the darker areas and the lighter areas of the globe to seem natural like shadows, without having a jarring segregation in colour shades.
