I recommend this book for anyone that wants to be on the edge of their seat for action. Treasure Island does not disappoint when it comes to the intense action filled adventures from Jim and his crew. Besides the action, the story and the plot are perfect. Each character has a story, and you are bound to find a character you like.

My book begins with Jim the main character, writing from the future telling the readers that he is being asked to ¨write down the whole particulars about Treasure Island¨ (P1) from the beginning to the end, and is to hold nothing back but the bearings of the island because the treasure has not yet been lifted. I think that is a good way to start the book because it leaves the reader interested in what is to come throughout the whole entire book. But that is just the introduction, The book really begins with Jim running the Admiral Benbow inn with his father and mother, when a brown old seamen walks in, and stays at the inn. ¨He was a very silent man by custom¨ (P2) but he was always worried about a one-legged man walking into the inn. Jim was paid to use his ¨Weather-Eye¨ and let the old seamen know when the monstrous one-legged man came in or if he ever saw the man. I believe this is a good way to start off the book because it is building up the interest level of the book. People are going to want the One-legged man to enter the inn so they can read about what happens upon his arrival. And they should because when he does enter, that is when the story really kicks off, But that is not necessarily the beginning of the book as I am only reviewing the first chapter. If there was anything I could change about the beginning, It would be that I personally feel like the author could of included more dialogue when it came to the Old Seamen who told his terrifying stories. It would of been interesting to read about everything he had to say to the town folk as it would of set a creepy and serious tone in the beginning of the book, creating a edge of your seat moment for the reader. Also, they most likely could of gave Jim’s parents more of a background. There is a lot unknown about his parents, but yet we know so much about Jim. Overall, the beginning of this book is excellent and could only use minor changes.

He rolled his eyes round heavily, but he was too far gone to express surprise. All he could do was to utter one word, "Brandy." (25.11-2)

I think this is a strong representation of the theme of the story, Because again, the whole story is based around the seamen and pirates. And if there is one thing they love the most besides treasure, it's alcohol.
