Why I, as a black man, attended KKK rallies. Ted Talk.

This Ted Talk was all about a man trying to find reason behind racism. I think the way this man tried to use reason, and non violent manners was able to win over racism. He told us that the Klan leader soon stepped down and I think it was partially from the encounter with this African American man. He also went into how children are not born racist, they are molded. He tells us this through his own personal story of how he first encountered racism and how the Klan leader explained how his perspective would not change because he was molded this way. He also talks about mutual respect however and how that can make all the difference.

This Ted Talk talk I mostly found reflected on just World culture and how we have developed one perception toward a race. We categorize hard in America towards other countries and continents. We see a lot of blind racism. Not mean, or intentional, but pity towards someone just for there race and assuming they know less because of where they are from or the color of their skin, or the way they talk.

What is White Privilege, Really?

White privilege has been around for a very long time. It is a cultural thing and not just a wealth standpoint. Its about a favoritism in society towards whites. Over the generations whites have seemingly been privileged. I believe white privilege is a thing in society but it is not as strong as it used to be. As racism has gone down in America white privilege has gone down but has not disappeared. I feel as if some people just feel more comfortable around the white man and it leads to a bias and blind racism.

This CBS clip makes you really realize the separation of cultures between white and black. They talk about how they depicted their characters of how they thought black people lived as if they were alien foreigners. It pans to the again blind racism in todays society and lack of knowledge of history as modern day people put on blackface. African Americans view this as hateful of course and their are the white people that view it that way as well, but their are the white americans that think of it as a joke or no big deal, such as Megan Kelly. When you are the majority it is easy to look down on the minority and tell them to "get over it".

This slam poet expresses how the "African American" way of talking is seen as threatening and uniting to the white community. I see this poem as a push for creativity and to not let society bring you down. He gives us a brief view into the life of an African American. While telling the next generation to let life guide you and do what you love.

Economic status has a direct correlation to schooling and education. Places with a high level of poverty, in rural areas, and with a high population of minority students. So this leads to an educational divide between races. Educational importance is different between the races, because blacks are subdued to poverty in a more substantial number. In white based communities they seem to value education more and in minority impoverished communities they value it less which leads to duller schooling and a divide. There is a clear correlation between schooling and achievement. With less education prioties and opportunities in minority run, poor communities it leads to a divide in people.

Economic status has a direct link to mortality in a major majority. Poverty has a link to health in many ways. Whether it be hospital care, medication, etc. There is a link in this issue and education, which all starts with our economic status. There is a clear statistic between uneducated African American death rates, and educated white American death rates, with the rate being higher for the uneducated poverty stricken African American. people who are poorer and poorly educated have higher death rates than wealthier and better educated people.

Poverty itself holds people down in America. In the farmer harvest study it is a clear mental issue between being poor, and not. Being poor is compared to the IQ of a person running on no sleep, or an alcoholic. The idea of giving money to the poor in this American society, just does not work, we have assistant programs, but poverty is still an issue. Poverty leads to less education, struggling to make ends meet at home, less nourishment. We tell these people, just do better, work harder, but in this society it is not that easy.

The divide between impoverished and wealthy is shown in this article. The lack of knowledge between cultures. Unbelievable stories of African Americans being published had the world shocked. It was blatant racism in a way caused an uproar and scream for help but also brought unwanted attention of how blacks are living. The fact people (mostly whites) believed these stories show the lack of knowledge of how they actually live and just outcasts them and makes them look like harmful beasts.

The history of America still has impact on todays society and can not be ignored. Back in the 1930s when African Americans were not treated equally in the banking systems and in home ownership. This left to a slide of poverty in African Americans that we still see and now view the area in which are highly African American populated to be seen as ghettos and low. In even todays society these loans and homeownership agreements requires great deals of money in which people do not have. These divides in neighborhoods lead to a divide in race. White Americans tread hard to avoid these African American neighboorhoods in stereotypical fear.
