It was founded in July 1995, and has shopping mall, and office tower and the Intercontinental Singapore Hotel.

The design of the Bugis Junction looks like a rest area. It is clean and  gives cozy atmosphere, which catches attention of visitors especially little kids. Since the people who are living in Singapore is global,  the design is more  mixture of western and other eastern design rather than Singapore traditional style. The picture below shows the outside of Bugis Junction. The design of the architecture in US  has unique and cozy atmosphere as well. One of the example that similar to Bugis Junction, or that Bugis Junction is similar to, is the design of the houses in Washington DC. Georgetown. This place has colorful houses with unique design that display a friendly atmosphere. The ecosystem is well constructed and those who have visited this town express admiration of its design.

The design of Georgetown's house and inside of Bugis Junction shares similar design which is window. Although the houses in Georgetown has few wooden window, there are some house that has wooden window attached on both left and right sides of the window. In US, there are many uniquely designed American shopping mall you can see but they are quite pricey. One of the shopping mall is known as King of Prussia. This department contains various brand stores just like Bugis +. Its architecture is made with glass and  distinctive design, like shapes and the materials they used to build.

Just like how Chinese culture influenced Singapore, US culture also involves Chinese culture in terms of architecture. The image below displays the Fo Guang Shan Hsi Lai Temple, which is located in LA, California. This construction is apparently based on  Chinese traditional architecture but was established by organization of Taiwan buddhists.

Fo Guang Shan Hsi Lai Temple is also buddhist temple and its design is similar to Kwan Im Thong Temple. Particularly, the roof shape is East Asia hip-and-gable roof, and the entrance of Fo Guang Shan Hsi Lai Temple also has the big signboard. Also, the color is similar because usually traditional architecture shows mostly orange-ish yellow, red and black.

One of the bar that is similar to Garibaldi is Everson Royce Bar in LA. This bar also gives calm and sophisticated mood. Not only drinks but they also serves straightforward dishes like burgers, tacos, and plates of prosciutto.

The way they arranged the bottles are different but its decoration, for example, lighting is alike. Both stores share chill and calm atmosphere which suit as a bar. However, Garibaldi is also part of restaurant so it is not awkward if the customer go during afternoon. In the early 1980s, Bras Basah Complex hosted small-scale Xinyao recitals and performance which were immensely popular and drew large crowds. During its peak, there was an event taking place almost every Saturday at the complex. There were also other arts and culture-related activities such as book fairs and art exhibitions which helped to attract customers.

Till this day, Singaporeans (especially art students like us) will be in need of art materials. Book collectors, young artists, students and bargain hunters will know that Bras Basah Complex is the place to go. 

The building seems to require renovation as the structure looks rather old and dirty. It will be necessary if it wants to reaffirm its position as Singapore's hub for reading and culture.

The building has not always been a museum, but was once a school. The building once housed St Joseph’s Institution (SJI), a Catholic boys’ school, run by La Salle Brothers. Later, in 1855, the cornerstone was laid by its founder, Father Jean-Marie Beurel. After 135 years in Bras Basah Road, SJI was relocated, making way for SAM.

Coleman for magistrate clerk H.C. Caldwell in 1840. With white walls and tall structure, it is similar with SAM and Raffles Hotel. 

With over 100 years of history, CHIJMES is honoured with a Merit Award at the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation.
