He had 3 ships the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Maria. He was born for a wealthy family and is also known as master navigator. The Medici (a powerful family) sent him to Spain to prepare for voyages in 1491, where he became eager to explore the unknown. While doing so, he also discover a passage from the Atlantic to the Pacific and named  it the Straits of Magellan. Magellan went to the King of Spain, who agreed to fund for his trip. Most of his crew died of hunger and scurvy. He at one point died as well while fighting is constant battles. When his first two expeditions failed, the king of England lost hope and so Henry went to the Dutch who agreed to sponsor for his voyage. He had clear instuctions but when his crew mutinied because of the frigid weather, he had to turn and he landed in Northern USA. He explored Florida, Georgia and most of the southern United States.
