Our last unit, covering The Great Gatsby, was my favorite unit of the year. Out of all the things we covered this year, I felt most engaged while watching/reading Gatsby. The story was interesting so writing about it did not feel as tedious as it did in some other units.

Worst Unit

Transcendentalism, in my opinion, was the worst unit. While I understand its value and purpose, I couldn't really feel connected with it's concepts and practices. It might work great for someone else, but it just wasn't the case for me. Adding on, the readings for the unit also were a little challenging to sometimes understand, which is also a reason why I didn't particularly like this unit

Most Memorable Moments

The days we wrote on posters on the wall and then came together as a class for discussion was cool, because I got to hear different perspectives on things. It was also a great way to introduce new units, giving us general ideas first and expanding on them as we went on. Both fun and evoking thought, I felt these days to be essential for the units they were for.

My Proudest Accomplishment

I'm proud of the fact that I was able to finish most of the work for this class, with only the time provided as in-class work time, throughout the entire year. This showed me that if I focused, I could get things done pretty efficiently. Other years I left myself a lot of unnecessary homework, eating up my time after school, but this year I was a lot better.

This year in English class I felt like I engaged less in activities and discussions compared to last year, but in everything else I still put in my best effort in order to get a good grade. My writing definitely improved throughout the year, making good progress in terms of my skills. In all, this class was similar to last year in terms of how I did academically, but a little different in comparison of my engagement.
