Spice could be many things, as the world is slowly running out of natural resources. “The spice” could be many things, like water. Water is very scarce on their planet and they need to reserve as much as possible. The spice could also be food as there is not much wildlife for meat or plants for vegetation so any food could be the spice. Oil could also be the spice, oil could be used to power there vehicles and other things as well. The Spice could also be any kind of medicine. Medicine is very essential for a society trying to survive so the reason the spice is very scarce and highly protected could mean it could be some type of medicine.

Dune can have inspirations from many religions, one could be christianity. Paul Atreides can be seen as a representation of a messiah, just as Jesus Christ in Christianity. Themes of sacrifice and redemption are also used in Dune. Characters like Duke Atreides, who sacrifices himself for his people, can be seen through a christian lens of selflessness and redemption just like Christ who sacrificed his life for everyones sins. Another religion is Hinduism, Hinduism could also be relevant in Dune because the religion focuses on meditation, self-discipline and spiritual growth. In Dune, the character, Gerney, focuses on all of these things. He focuses on not only the people's but also and his own mental growth, making everyone mental and physically stronger.

Dune could represent the struggle for control over scarce and valuable resources. Arrakis, a mostly desert planet, is a harsh environment with limited resources. A resource that might be short is water. This scarcity of water drives many issues throughout the novel.Some of these issues lead to war, death, immigration and emigration. This conflict is similar to real world struggles over geographical regions that are rich in resources like oil, water, or valuable minerals that can lead to the same problems like war, death, immigration and emigration. A specific example could be World War II. Many factors played in World War II, one of them being Germany's desire for Lebensraum. This living space that Germany wanted caused many problems and raised the level of the war just over geography.

This small and compact machine would travel the dunes with electrifying speed and acceleration. A small army of these would be very efficient war. These sand mobiles, for the price listed and the very small depletion of spice, they would be a great purchase for anyone on Arrakis.
