They believe in old traditions include coming to land to bury dead on the “graveyard island”, where old people are also abandoned to starve to death. They use fishing as their main source of food and use techniques such as fish bombing to catch them. However, pirate infested waters draw them closer to shore, resulting in food shortages and causing the people to starve. There is no religion, but rather cultures and traditions that can be seen when it comes to death. When someone dies, they are buried in a coffin with clothes and belongings. However, due to the overcrowding of the graveyard, the dead are often disturbed and disrespected. Their entire lives are surrounded by harsh environments which makes surviving very difficult. The old are left for dead on an island as they may hold back the tribe. Such traditions were necessary back in the day, but things have changed. Due to the dangers of pirates, most of the Bajau have left the sea for land. However, as they are a small and uneducated tribe, times are tough. Lack of food causes the people of the tribe to scavenge for rotten fruits and meat scraps. Traditions have changed and been altered. The old is buried atop their ancestors due to lack of space for burial. With no resources or education, parts of the tribe start to make fun of the dead. This could be due to the fact that they are so used to the hardships of life, causing them to not care for the dead with respect. Goods for worship are limited for fear of grave robbers. Life is extremely tough for the Bajau but not all hope is lost. They're living with old traditions, for example the way they treat dying people; they abandon them on an island and will leave them dying. They also have to protect their self from the pirates, the pirates will take their boats and the native will be dumped off in the sea.

They have to faced the risk like the weather and the pirates that may cause their life to die. 
Also the people will bring the old and left to dead at the graveyard island. 
Because of the pirates and harsh environment, they went to other countries like the Philippines to secure their living but lack of education and finance, their life is also tough there. They buried the dead on top of the ancestor by digging out the bodies and place the new coffin on top because the graveyard were packed and full.
