Pax Romana translates to Roman peace and was 200 years of Roman peace. The empire fell apart because there were not enough soldiers to protect the massive empire, there was a lot of corruption, and people and soldiers were not as loyal as they were before, also there were civil wars and some plagues from foreign places which also contributed to the fall of Rome.

Augustus took power from the senators by giving the weaker provinces to the senate claiming that they were peaceful and free of wars. In contrast, Augustus took the provinces with all the arms and soldiers claiming that he wanted the hardships for himself. This left the Senate unarmed and not prepared for battle.
