In contrast, Augustus took the provinces with all the arms and soldiers claiming that he wanted the hardships for himself. This left the Senate unarmed and not prepared for battle.

Pats also controlled the Senate and government. Caesar lessened debt and unemployment, lessened Pat control of Senate, created work, planned festivals, and micromanaged Rome.
