I chose this quote because it shows both a chaotic situation and an orderly paternal moment. This picture is a "Hot Pot" as recalled in the memoir. The nature of Yellowstone is very serene and orderly. But in some places Yellowstone reveals chaotic and caustic pools of sulfur.

If this quote doesn't yell self-sufficiency I don't know what would. As a three-year-old she was boiling water to make herself hot dogs. This quote relates to subject because it shows Jeannette's fantasy and their depressing reality. The picture of the geode represents a rock in Jeannette's rock collection. On the outside a geode looks like a plain rock that would belong in a yard. This quote details how fast Jeannette changes from thinking she will be abandoned to laughing about a silly word. Either this shows her ability to move on and forgive her dad, or her dad's love for his family. The image shows a girl smiling just like Jeannette did when her dad called her nose the snot locker. I feel this excerpt was the opposite of the topic, and that's why I chose it. Throughout the memoir Rex tells Mary that he loves her, but it doesn't seem fully true. The image is obviously The Green Lantern. That is also the name of the brothel. Could it also be the comic book that Brian was reading?
