Glass used for windows to keep warm in and not have a gaping hole in the wall which wind would blow through
. Fridges metal is used to keep the cold in
. The wall is used to keep snow out because if the house had no walls the snow would fall straight onto the floor and the sofa would be very cold to sit on
. You can put insulating foam in your loft and it acts like an insulator
.

An electric charge cannot pass through an insulator easily. Insulators protect heat, sound and the passage of electricity. Thermal insulators, sound insulators and electrical insulators are used for various reasons, from keeping houses warm to protecting electrical wires and soundproofing rooms. A material that does not let heat and electricity travel through it easily is known as an insulator. In many situations, we want to trap heat and slow down its flow, or stop the flow of electricity and prevent electric shocks. Plastic, rubber, wood, and ceramics are good insulators. Wool fibres are woven tightly together, and are much thicker than other materials, such as cotton. They don't allow much heat to escape, which means they are great insulators.

they are also very handy because some conductors are used for phones pens and others object is a conductor.

a good rule of thumb is that any metal objects is a conductor. So in a house, you could find many conductors in a kitchen, for example pots and pans, forks, knives and spoons.
