He wouldn't ask to go get a treat because he thought there weren't any. When he was about 9, he was at a friend's house when a truck went by. He heard the music and told his friend the truck was out of ice cream. His friend laughed at him and said that wasn't true- it was a way for everyone to know they were there. He was not happy!
