I really like this book by B.J Novak. It is an extremely fun book that helps to teach the reader the concepts of reading. The whole book explores that idea that the "reader" has to read what is in the text no matter how silly and ridiculous. The whole book evokes laughter, even though there are no pictures within the book.

This imaginative book by Judi Barrett is about a town that rained and snowed food. This book is not only very relevant to kids as they normally love food but it helps students with vocabulary words such as "shifted", "fog", "portions", "occasional" , "abandon", and "sanitation". This book could be use to teach children about weather in a more relevant way. Finally this book could be used to teach the concept of cause and effect to children.

This children's book by Andrea Beaty is all about a young girl who is interested into becoming an engineer. This book is aimed at teaching children to never quit and to persist, no matter how difficult it may be. The book reads to have a good rhythm to it as much of it rhymes. I really like the book because while it is teaching students all about another career that they may not know much about, it all teaches a large amount of complex vocabulary. This would be a great book to read multiple times with students to teach vocabulary.

This book by Laura Joffe Numeroff explores the cause and effects of giving a mouse a cookie. Through out the book it states the cause of giving the mouse something and what happens next. It is silly enough for young students to like and includes many pictures to help the students get a good idea of what the author is picturing.

This evoking picture book by Jon Scienszka is all about the 3 little pig story but coming from a different perspective from the pigs. Instead it comes from the wolf's perspective.

Pete the Cat by Eric Litwin is all about a cat who is attended school for the first time wearing his "school shoes". This book is a well-known an loved book by many students. Students love it because it comes with a songs throughout the book. This is extremely enjoyable and engaging for many students. I like this book as an first- day of school read aloud. This would get students engaged and excited to be at school. Otherwise it is a great book to be read to pre-k students. The songs within the book would help students to read this book as well.
