I grew up in Waterloo but it outgrew me. During the summer vacation, as a treat,  my mom would give me and four of my sisters enough money for the bus and a movie ticket. On Tuesdays, it was 2 for 1 for the matinee. She would pop a brown grocery bag’s worth of popcorn and give us one bottle of Pop Shoppe pop to share. We carried it with us on the bus and ate and drank in the cinema. I don’t remember the cinema staff complaining and I don’t remember any of the movies that I saw those days. 

This time I had a $7 donut from a bakery and watched twenty-year-old girls line up to go into the Sake place for $15 drinks. I could have bought a down-filled parka and a $500 pair of shoes or paid my mortgage this month. 

The documentation of my walk is a collage of printed photos that I took glued onto cradled wood (8X10 inches) with some distressing, and a drawing of the path of my walk, in acrylic marker.
