Is having breakfast important before PE?

Having breakfast before PE is important because it provides the energy your body needs to perform well during physical activity. A healthy breakfast helps improve focus, prevents dizziness or fatigue, and supports better overall performance. Without food, you might feel weak or tired, making it harder to take part in sports or exercises. Even a light meal like fruit, toast, or yogurt can make a big difference in how you feel and perform during PE.

Is having breakfast important before PE lessons?

Yes, because having breakfast before PE allows us to have enough energy and hydrates us so we don’t faint or get sick easily during or even after PE . Having breakfast allows us to have more stamina and helps to keep us awake and energised during lessons. In that way, we can focus and perform better in our exams or tests and make our parents proud. Some examples of breakfast are: pancakes, waffles bread or biscuits and fruit juice or simple hot drinks like milo or milk .

If we don’t eat before PE lesson we might not have enough energy to play in PE lesson. Eating before PE lesson also avoid us getting lightheaded during the work out or game. Many people skip their meal before having PE lesson in our opinion this actions are very unhealthy people skip it s they might think its a waste of time or may think that they still have a lot of energy store in their body but in the mid of the game or workout they run out of energy and feel lightheaded. Eating before doing workout can stable your blood sugar level.

our problem statement : We are increasingly more reliant on our personal learning devices for learning. Will this help us learn better in PE too?

I agree with the first statement of us as students getting more reliant on our personal learning devices as every morning or even during break , there will one hundred percent be students using their iPads . However , I do not think that using our iPads might be such a bad thing as we might learn different informations and we can also explore things online that we might have never seen before , so , there are pros and cons on being reliant on our personal learning devices. I think that using our personal learning devices can be used during some of the lessons during PE , examples are that the PE teacher can give an SLS assignment and that the students can enter the assignments and from the assignment , learn things such as how exercising helps us keep fit and how eating a balanced diet would help us be both fit and healthy. Furthermore, the teacher can put up certain things into the assignment for us to learn. Although there are some ways to use the personal learning devices for our physical education , I think that the way the personal learning devices could be use is limited and we should not rely on it too much and instead conduct the physical way our PE is conducted usually.

Problem: why is having breakfast important before PE?

We choose this problem statement because it can boost our energy and helps stabilise blood sugar level. Many people choose to skip breakfast they think it's not important and take it lightly, but in fact, they they provide protein, and carbohydrates. If you do not eat breakfast u might feel dizzy or even in worst situations u might faint. Even if we don’t feel like eating, we can have something light example: a cup of milk, yoghurt, and even an energy bar. We need energy to embrace the day ahead so thus it is important to eat breakfast before PE.

After researching on our problem statement, our group have found out that having breakfast before PE have many benefits . Firstly, it helps stabilise our blood sugar levels ,preventing energy crashes and improving focus which is important when exercising during PE . Secondly it helps improve performance, allowing us to exercise for a longer duration, or at a higher intensity. Thirdly, it helps provide the body with the readily available energy (glucose) for muscles to use during our PE lessons .lastly, it benefits our overall health, including better weight management and reduced risk of certain diseases.these are some facts that our group didn’t know about .

Our group reflection :

After this activity, our group learned about the many benefits of eating breakfast before PE . We decided to try to start practising this habit since it helps us in many ways. Not just before PE lessons , instead, we will be practising this habit every morning before school starts . This habit doesn’t only benefit us during PE lessons, it helps in our other classes and even our daily activities too. Our group will also be trying to ask our peers to start practising the habits of eating breakfast in the morning, not only those that has PE classes ,but also the adults that are working. We will convince then by telling them the benefits of this habit.

Why I Think Having Breakfast Before PE Is Important

I think having breakfast before PE is very important because it gives us the energy we need to perform well. I learned that when we eat foods like bread, rice, or potatoes, our body breaks them down into glucose. This glucose is then used by our cells during respiration to release energy. We need this energy to move, run, and stay active during PE. (Source: https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/what-is-glucose)

If we skip breakfast, our blood sugar can drop, which might make us feel tired, dizzy, or even give us headaches. This could make us do poorly in PE or even feel unwell. I read that low blood sugar can also affect our mood and make us feel grumpy or less focused. (Source: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9056644/)

I used to think breakfast just helped stop hunger, but now I understand it's also really important for our brain and body to work well, especially during physical activities like PE.

This changed how we think about diet and exercise—it’s more about balance than just doing more workouts.

group 11

Eating breakfast can provide carbohydrates that will be digested into glucose, which is the brain’s and muscles’ main fuel. After fasting for a whole night, about eight to nine hours, blood glucose levels will drop. Exercising without eating food or breakfast, you may feel weak, dizzy or sluggish and focus levels will drop.

Eating breakfast restores blood sugar levels, especially since carbohydrates which are commonly taken for breakfast digests into glucose. This helps you stay alert, focus better and remember things better, which is importantly for students.

If intending to lose weight, skipping breakfast is not the best idea. In fact, eating breakfast boosts your metabolism. Eating breakfast also means you’ll have more energy when exercising, allowing you to stay more active and also get healthier, if not maintain as you are.

in conclusion, our group has understood the impact of skipping breakfast and the heavy importance of it. Not only that, we have understood that breakfast doesn’t only allow us to have more energy and feel full, it breaks the fast of the night and improves our concentration, mood and energy during school or on a daily basis. We have also understood that this is one of the main reasons why some students may feel tired or sluggish when having pe in the morning before any meals or recess. Although being on an empty stomach and working out sounds effective, the sad truth is that it only harms you further, affecting not only your physical conditions but also your mood and concentration.

https://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/health/healthyliving/breakfast https://www.webmd.com/food-recipes/breakfast-lose-weight

We realise now how important it is to eat breakfast before PE. As a group, we used to think skipping breakfast would not affect our performance, but we learned that it gives our bodies the energy needed to stay active and focused. Without breakfast, we might feel tired, weak, or even dizzy, which can make it harder to take part in physical activities. We also understand that eating in the morning helps improve concentration and reaction time during games. Moving forward, we will encourage each other to have a healthy breakfast so we can perform our best in PE lessons.https://www.canva.com/design/DAGsnzEqRoc/uIMdaMwVUUOihlMjmVNarg/edit?utm_content=DAGsnzEqRoc&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link2&utm_source=sharebutton

We decided to use canva for our presentation. From our research, we learned that eating breakfast is important for energy, focus, and performance, especially before PE. Breakfast provides glucose, which fuels the brain and muscles after a night without food. Without it, students may feel tired, dizzy, and less able to concentrate. Skipping breakfast can lead to fatigue, poor performance, mood changes, and long-term health risks like type 2 diabetes or muscle loss. While some think skipping meals helps with weight loss, it can actually lower energy and slow down metabolism. We now understand that breakfast supports both physical activity and learning. It’s a simple habit that helps us feel better and do better in school.

our group reflection.

We feel like after this whole journey of reflecting on how important having breakfast is, we will try to have breakfast everyday before school. Even though most of us are used to not having breakfast before school as we are numb to the effects, it is better to start a new and eat breakfast. It can help us to focus better during our lessons, esspecially in the WA period where every nearing lesson is crucial. It can aslo help us to feel more energised during PE lessons so that we cab give it our all when we are playing inter-class games during PE, as it can get quite strenuous. All in all, after this journey of research, we can conclude that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, as it can affect the way we perform in school, both physically and academically.

Our reflection:

From this Joy project,my group believe that having breakfast before PE is important because it gives our bodies the energy we need to perform well. When we eat in the morning, our food is broken down into glucose, which is the main source of fuel for our muscles and brain. This means we can run faster, move more efficiently, and concentrate better during activities. Without breakfast, our energy levels drop, and we may feel tired, dizzy, or unable to keep up with the exercises. Skipping breakfast can also affect our mood and motivation, making PE less enjoyable. I have learned that eating a healthy breakfast, such as whole grains, fruits, and protein, can help me be more alert and active, not only in PE but throughout the whole school day.

Our group reflection:

Throughout the joy project: we understand better about the question “Does our personal learning device (PLD) help us learn better in physical education to achieve a healthier lifestyle?” We agree with this as using a PLD in Physical Education helps us learn skills more effectively and build a healthier lifestyle. Fitness apps on our PLD let us track our steps, heart rate, and progress, making it easier to set and achieve goals. Challenges and instant feedback keep us motivated and encourage participation in class and beyond. By forming healthy habits and making exercise part of our daily routine, the PLD supports us in staying active and improving our overall well-being.

Reflection

our group agreed that it is extremely important to have breakfast before PE. We have understood the impact of skipping breakfast and the heavy importance of it. Not only that, we have understood that breakfast doesn’t only allow us to have more energy and feel full, it breaks the fast of the night and improves our concentration, mood and energy during school or on a daily basis. This is one of the main reasons why some students may feel tired or sluggish when having PE in the morning before any meals or recess. Although being on an empty stomach and working out sounds effective, the sad truth is that it only harms you further, affecting not only your physical conditions but also your mood and concentration.

My group and I feel like reflecting about why eating breakfast before pe is Important because we can understand more. Eating a balanced breakfast before PE class is crucial for providing the necessary energy and nutrients to optimize performance and overall well-being. It replenishes glucose stores, which are depleted overnight, and provides sustained energy for physical activity, improving focus and concentration. Skipping breakfast can lead to decreased energy levels, reduced cognitive function, and potentially increased risk of injury during PE. Breakfast helps improve focus and concentration, which is essential for understanding instructions, following directions, and performing physical activities effectively. Regular breakfast consumption can contribute to healthy weight management by preventing overeating later in the day and boosting metabolism, according to some studies.
