Model

This model represents in a visual way the ongoing Palestine-Israeli conflict. It portrays the four different perspectives by showing the perpetrator as the biggest individual and the victims as runaways, while the UN and the witnesses are in the surroundings. This piece attempts to teach how Israel is taking over the territory in an offensive way so people around the globe get interested in the topic. We want the audience to empathize and feel solidarity with the people who are living in a hostile situation. As the conflict has lasted over seven decades, we believe that raising awareness is crucial for the outcome of this war.

This artwork represents the different perspectives in the Islamic Fundamentalism. This movement is a fundamentalist where the people were promised a authoritarian and totalitarian governments that also pushes democracy away. We want to honor all the people who died fighting for what they thought was right. We wanted to use some recycled materials to create a monument where there are buildings and people protesting. Painting

This artwork shows the perpetrator’s perspective during the Soviet Union invasion in Afghanistan. In this historical event the Soviet Union seems to be the “bad guy” and knowing why they made the decision to invade Afghanistan is important. Many people were involved in this conflict but understanding the reasons and motives of  others gives people another perspective of what happened. The concept of this painting is the following: there are stairs that go all the way up to the sun. This indicates how people passed through different events in order to achieve reconstruction, reconciliation and forgiveness. This artwork is dedicated to the USSR’s invasion in Afghanistan, also know as the Afghan-Soviet War, which took place from 1979-1989. Our main goal with this memorial is basically being able to commemorate and help to better understand this conflict’s development in all of its possible perspectives. Therefore, we separated the Afghan territory into the four points of view discusses this semester; victim, activist, perpetrator and witness. We also included a brief description of how this conflict looked in each perspective.

Three Weeks in Hell, 2023

This drawing represents the destroyed streets of Hama after the 27 day massacre. In it you can see destroyed buildings, rusted cars and surrounding waste. There are planes and tanks to show what the inhabitants of Hama were attacked with. This represents that violence is never the answer to conflicts, it only ends with the life of many people. This war could’ve been easily avoided, but because they went through with it, it killed more than 50 thousand people. Technique: Digital Painting 
Statement: The painting represents the death of the hostages that were taken on Black September. Where it also shows a hallway representing the Athlete’s Village in which the terrorists attacked. At the same time two Palestinians, the terrorist, are at the back implying that they were the cause of the tragedy. And the Olympic Games five rings with the German flag imprinted in it, as the incident took place in that country and in that big event. To wrap it all, the whole image is getting darker depending on the angle you are looking at it from.

Technique:
For the technique, we used different materials such as: plasticine, paints, cardboard, scissors, unicell, Bat tongues, tape, glue.
Artistic Statement:
Numerous lives were lost during the Sinai War, and the tumult of battle buried their testimonies. However, the voiceless are given a voice in this museum. Each tomb is a memorial to a life lost too soon and a representation of the tragedy of war. Visitors are invited to learn about the unique experiences of individuals who died through interactive exhibits, developing a deeper awareness of the human cost of conflict. And although though the museum celebrates the past, it also looks ahead to a world with less conflict. It motivates us to work toward creating a future without such tombs by illuminating the tragedies of conflict.
