The strike will also divide the community with families that support the teachers movement & the families that want their children in the classroom. The parents got involved by sitting in at the board meeting. Also the brown berets (college students) got involved as well. Further, the movement spread throughout east Los Angeles to other schools. 
1b. They rallied behind Sal Castro, a movement leader, because after his arrest they wanted him back as a teacher even though the school wouldn’t allow him to come back and teach.
