Dangerous Trends Past and Current

Have you ever looked at all the crazy beauty and style trends where you were just like, “who thought that was a good idea?” You can find countless examples from the past but there are plenty of relevant ones today. Let’s look back at some in the past, shall me? Corsets, they started out for upper class women in the Victorian era, but by the 19th century everyone from every social class was wearing them. The appeal of the corset was the way it shaped women’s waist into hourglass fingers. Some of the side effects included impaired breathing, increased hysteria, not being able to breast feed properly, miscarriages, etc. , All those side effects and CORSETS ARE MAKING A COMBACK, why? Just why? Another example of a dangerous historical trend had to have been led astray. The mixture is called a ceruse and it is made of lead and vinegar. The past was used to make the skin appear as white as possible, because in the past if you were tan it looked like you were poor and doing farm work. This concoction was legit poison to the skin, slowly it caused skin lesions, rotting teeth, hair loss, and eventually death to the person applying it. A more recent fashion trend could be sky high platform heels. These platform shoes of all types started mainly in the 90’s. The trend makes the legs look longer, any look fancier and more elegant. While Heels may be amazing for the way you look they’re not actually good for you. High heels make your heels arch, making all your weight fall on the ball of your feet causing pressure and strain. Also, the farther you are from the ground the farther you have to fall and it’s not like heels make you more coordinated or stable then you were before.

http://urbanette.com/
