•Local authorities may issue certificates (for an annual fee) having inspected the premises and the conditions the animal is kept under.

•If you are considering using domestic animals,  you should write a proposal to the EHO Department of the local authority.

•All performances which charge whether admission or otherwise.

•All performances held in licence premises.
•The regulations lay down criteria relating to:

–Minimum number of hours of education required

–Approval of private teachers

–Number of hours allowed to rehearse / perform

–Chaperone requirements

–Travel arrangements

–General needs of the child (food etc).

•Never left unattended.

•The Stage Manager should unlock the weapon, hand to the performer, then collect and lock it up again as soon as the scene requiring the prop has ended.

•All blank ammunition should be locked away in a strong box and limited to the correct number required for the run.
•No gun should ever be pointed directly at another performer or the audience, instead aim upstage away from the performer it will still look convincing.

•All weapons must be covered if carried in public.

•The police must be notified if a weapon is lost or stolen

•Real firearms including those adapted for firing blanks

•Purpose built starting pistols

And

•Edged weapons – swords, daggers, knives, spears, pikes, basically anything with an edge or point.

Some firearms DO NOT require a Firearms Certificate:

•Firearms which have been deactivated and stamped by a proof house or any replica or imitation guns.

In theatre you must prove that they are required and necessary to the performance.
