The album encompasses everything a homey, folk-country song wishes it had. Niall is able to achieve his own sound that was washed out and harmonized by his previous boy band affiliation. Flicker is the album that really lets Niall shine as an up-and-coming artist and allows him to experiment and use his voice in ways that he wasn't able to. The album also uses multiple instances of Ratliff's musical elements such as transmission and virtuosity.
