She can say "Momma," "dadda," "dog," "up," "eat," and "wa-wa," (water). She uses these words every single opportunity she gets, along with many hand gestures to point to what she wants, but can't say.  She loves practicing her new found vocabulary! We (Joel) have to be very careful with our choice of words around her! 

Her sleep is still very important, she is getting an average of 12 hours of sleep a night. She usually sleeps through the night easily, which is good news for us! She gets about 8 hours of NonREM sleep and an average of 4 hours of REM sleep. 

She is able to locate and point to things in pictures when she is asked about them. She engages in imaginative and symbolic play at her preschool. Her favorite thing to do is dress up and play house, where she pretends to be "mommy" (she does have 3 mommies after all). This type of imaginative play with her peers means that she is actively establishing and representing her socially accepted gender role. She is still a little bit egocentric, as she has a difficult time experiencing other perspectives aside from her own. Her social development is very important to her cognitive development at this point. 

Her language continues to develop at a rapid rate. She is able to construct more clear and full sentences and tell more organized stories with her family teachers, and friends. She still extends grammatical errors by saying things like, "teeths" and "bestest." She died of a fatal concussion as a result of falling down the stairs at her home. She survived by her 86 year old wife, Barbara Alexandria. Barbara continues to reside in what was once their shared Caribbean mansion.

A memorial remembering Sierra will be held this Friday, May 18th at 2 pm at Thomas Poteet & Sons Funeral Home. 214 Davis Rd. Augusta, GA 30907. Charitable donations will go toward Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA), as it was always a passion of hers to educate the future generation of healthcare  providers. 

Sierra Alexandria was born on March 22, 2018 at Doctor's Hospital in Augusta, GA to Joel Deserto and multiple partners. Sierra was previously married to Steve Carrel and divorced at age 30. She later remarried to her current living spouse at 44 years old. She met Barbara in Medical College and the rest was history. 

Sierra finished her residency at Medical College of Georgia in the top of her class, with highest honors. She continued a career at MCG as a general surgeon. She continued to teach at MCG until she retired at 75 years old. 

She was a member of HOSA and the American Surgical Association (ASA) as an adult. She enjoyed running, and had a passion for gymnastics for her whole life. She was always the most intelligent person in the room and had a special talent of reaching and touching others regardless of where they were in life.
