A theory is a repeatedly tested explanation that unites an extensive range of observations. To retain its status, it must never be shown to be inaccurate; otherwise, it is simply refuted, (note: theories can evolve, if they were not completely wrong, yet not fully right).

Both hypotheses and theories can be shown to be false; however, theories require continual testing to be formed, while hypotheses only need prior knowledge/inspection to be created. Both a law and a theory need some experimental data to be comprised. In spite of that, a law describes how; a theory attempts to describe why. Lastly, laws and hypotheses are based of examination, yet, as mentioned before, a hypothesis can be disproved, while a law simply cannot.
