Jackson and I live with our cat, Stella Marie.

I love her more than anything. She loves my husband more than anything and could care less about me. That's the dynamic and I've accepted it.

We also live with our dog, Wrigley.

Jackson convinced me he NEEDED a hunting dog to help him retrieve ducks. As it turns out, Wrigley prefers to stay in the house with me and watch the wildlife from afar.

Sometimes feel (fear?) there is a disconnect between the teaching of composition and literature. Why do we teach them as separate skills? Are they always? Perhaps that is too philosophical, but McArthur's "Making Ourselves Visible" publication makes me rethink what it means to be objective/subjective in the English classroom. We spend so much time (at least at the HS level) telling our students that "I" has no place in the academic paper. What if we've been wrong this whole time?

In another light, I love learning about literature (don't we all?) and I am eager to see what perspective the course takes on people's words and stories.
