I loved the trip. I learned that there are many ways to tell a story such as making a song or telling the story and write. Joseph Bruchac is a very good story teller. My favorite part was when Joseph told all of the stories. The funnest thing was when we went on the walk. If I had to change a story 21 times I would be tired. I think Joseph is a great writer. It was a privilege to meet an author like Joseph. If there was one more thing I could do it would be to have a long writing time. One thing I would change is I would have less people. If I get to see Joseph again I will ask him some questions. On the bus everyone was singing pop C Koo. That was the 2nd time I meet a live author. I am so glad we got new notebooks. In the beginning when the guy played the box. I think the flute Joseph played was so peaceful. If I wrote 120+ books I could sleep all winter. This was one of the best field trips. I never new a person would write 120+ books. I wish this never ended.

A thing that I liked is when the guy in the beginning he played his instrument. One thing that I learned is that Joseph Bruechac had to fix his stories 21 times. On the field trip one connection is that we learned about Native Americans before. One thing that surprised me is that if I had to change 21 one corrections I would be super tired. The guy at the beginning was super creative because he used a box as a instrument. It was so cool on the way to U.C Davis because it was so loud that everyone was singing "Popsicle". On way back home most people yelling at truck drivers to toot their horn. Joesph Bruechac was brave because he wasn't embarrassed in front of a lot of people.

Joseph Bruchac is a powerful storyteller! I learned that there are many ways to tell a story through music, song, dance, pictures, and written word. One thing that I enjoyed the most was when the drummer started playing on the box.

I liked this field trip because we learned a lot about Native Americans. One thing that I learned from Joseph Bruchac is that they learn their lessons from story telling.The funnest part is when Daniel (first speaker to come up) did his Hip-Hop music called Flow.On the ride to U.C Davis everybody was singing "Popsicle".

I learned a lot of things on this field trip. On thing I learned was that you can make music out of what you have! That is so cool! I really liked the story when the woman was clever and didn't run away when she saw the monster. I didn't think that men can do everything better than the women. the notebook was nice too. I wrote some stuff in there that was on the trip. when he came out, I enjoyed the music that he played. It was nice and peaceful. I loved the trip!

I liked the field trip because we got to see Joseph Bruchac. I liked getting the new notebooks. It's my 13th notebook! I like writing stories a lot. I liked the songs on the flute that Mr. Bruchac played. He said he got his book rejected 20 times, but that's not a lot at all! My dad's friend got his book rejected 49 times. But the field trip was cool. I liked the music Danny played on his box.

I loved this field trip because we got to meet an author. I liked the part when the Spanish used a box for an instrument.The other part where I liked was when he said many ways of writing music,poems,writing ,and singing.I wanted to hear the rest of the story where the girl said that his dad was poor and he got snickers and he even ate them all. I wish i could finish that story . He also inspired me to write better.I also liked the part when we ate lunch and I could talk to my friends.When I grow up I want to become a great author like Joseph Bruchac .I would write lots of books and I would give them to friends so they can read i. Next year I wish another author that inspires me comes and he might teach me new things to write.I loved the story where the woman saw the monster and said it was her grandfather and monster ate the burning soup and actually became their grandfather that was really cool. The lake that we saw was really cool.Even though I was not in my friends group I still enjoyed the field trip and I got to talk to my friends.This was a fun trip that I enjoyed a lot.

I liked the field trip because we met Joseph Bruchac. It was awesome because we got to learn about him and his family. I also liked how he explained how he wrote his books. I can't believe it took 20 times of rewriting before the book got published. I also liked this person named Danny. When he was traveling to Mexico he didn't have an intruments so he used a box to make music like a drum. This was my third time I met an author and Jospeh Bruchac was my favorite. I liked that we received a writing journal from UC Davis. This was a fun field trip.

I loved Joseph Bruchac's voice! When he spoke and told his stories, I felt calm and peaceful. I loved that he said that women had a very important role in the tribes! I find it fascinating that women were often chiefs!

I also loved that there was so much MUSIC today. The rhythm of the drums made it almost impossible to not move along to the beat. I am so happy that my kiddos got to meet another author. We are so lucky

l loved this field trip because we learned about this really talented author his name is Joseph Bruchac He did some music like the drums and the flute. what we did at the bus is try to make people honk it was awesome and we sang pop c koo we got 7 honks altogether .We learned so many things about Joseph bruchac .Before they brought out Joseph there was this another person named Danny and he told us about his hip pop life and he did the drums and did a song called flow it was AWESOME. Joseph bruchac makes poetry, music, and he's a storyteller. He writes about native Americans. We also got notebooks from u.c Davis, and they are called words take wings.THIS WAS THE BEST BEST BEST FIELD TRIP. HE WROTE 120+ and he is working on 7 books.Then we ate lunch then we went for a walk and we took a pic and saw another classroom. THE BEST BEST BEST BEST BEST FIELD TRIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE END!!!!!!

On the field we went today on 2/10/15 was the Words Take wing it was when we had met a author called Joseph Bruchac. He is a storyteller, music maker, and makes poetry. We got these little notebooks to write our imagine and to keep secrets in. It was in the UC Davis Auditorium I even met other people. We met this person called Danny and he told us a story that is really so in the Native American times they liked to play drums but people took it away from them so they figured out what to use a drum they used a hard drum! So Danny played some music to us and them Joseph Bruchac came and told stories and played the drums and flute he used them very well. He told us some stories about the Native American times and while he was saying the story it made me get my imagination much bigger and inspired me to like books and write books and Joseph Bruchac made me and inspired and make book and read them and when I saw the documentary about Native Americans I learned a little bit more about Native Americans. Joseph Bruchac made 120+ books and he's working on 7 books and one secret that the speaker said of the documentary is that she even has a notebook and she writes secrets in there and one of the secrets she shared with us was that when they were poor her dad grandma gave him a quarter to buy meat but when her dad saw the snicker bars in the glass he wanted to buy it and it was only 5 cents so he bought 5 of them but his grandmother got angry. By all people that was talking up on the stage it made me smarter. After that we had to go to lunch what I liked about lunch time is that I got to rest a little bit and talk to friends. After we all ate we went to a lake a took pictures and saw the beautiful lake but we didn't jump in. We had to go soon so we all went to the bus stop by then the bus wasn't there so we just stretched our body out and go in the bus. After we got on the bus I didn't really do anything so I just sat there doing nothing. When we got to the classroom we read silently and got five minutes each we were quiet and the we got to watch Magic School Bus and do anything we want in the classroom. This was a really good field trip I liked it. I would like to rate this field trip a 4 because I liked all the things we did but I feel like we didn't explore much of the campus.

I liked this field trip because the authors name is Joseph and that reminds me about the bible. I also liked when he played the flute and the drum. But my most favorite part was when Joseph said that there was a monster that made a noise so bad it made things die because of selfishness. On the way back the main things I liked was when everybody sang pop see coo and when we tried to make trucks honk their horn. I also wrote in my journal. when we got back at school I was sad because I wouldn't get to see my mom so much because she was the chaperone. Anyways this trip was awesome. I hope our last one is going to be as good as this one!

I like the field trip because...

I liked when the woman told us the story when her dad loved snikers!

What I learned on the trip was native Americans were first but the people who came here second said to get out. My favorite part about the trip was when Joseph bruchac came out. Joseph said that is second grade teacher encourage him to read books. Middle. Joseph bruchac like writing books he said his favorite book was beaver's last race. Than the drum guy came out and started playing the drums and he said he grew up listening to hip pop. My favorite story is how squirrel got his stripes. He said he writes books for kids so they can laugh and care about his book he said everyday when he get home he starts writing books. It was pretty cool how Joseph played the flute as he was walking out from behind the curtains. I also like how that other guy (I forgot his name) used his box as a drum. Man he is good. Also I wasn't expecting Mr. Brushac to look like that. I LOVE my new notebook. I've already started making comics in it. I wasn't really thinking I'd like the field trip very much but now I think its awesome. Joeseph had some pretty good advice. For example he said if you needed to do something hard keep trying nomatter what. But anyway I'm looking foward to more field trips.

On the field trip I took lots of notes. On the way back thought about my field trip. I liked where Danny played the song Flow on the box. I also liked where he played the flute. I wonder how he plays it so beautiful. I like the story where he talks about that woman are strong like boys. There was a very long walk. I was very excited when I saw Joseph Bruchac. my favorite part of this trip was when we got to watch the Magic School bus. It was very loud because of all the people that were there. On the bus I got to play Hangman with my friends. It was cool when Danny walked over the stage so we could do the wave. I didn't really notice the slide show that much. I wish he can write more books.

What I learned on the trip was that you can make music with a box! I also got to write In my new note book I got in words take wing! My favorite part was when Joseph Brushack came on stage playing the flute and my second favorite part was when a guy named Danny played a box like a drum! We also went on a hike or a walk and after that we did some stretches and then the bus came and we went back to school and then went home!

I really, really love our field trip called "Words Take Wing". I liked Danny's hip-hop snog called "Flow" because there was lots of tone and rhythm. Before the whole thing started, there was a slideshow. It was pretty interesting, but it wasn't what I expected. I thought it was inspiring how the author Joseph Bruchac said that he never gave up on writing books.

I learned a lot of amazing things during the field trip. I learned that there are many ways to speak and present the words you say. Another thing I learned is that you should never give up, you have to work hard and that you can write stories that write about the older generations.

Our field trip to Words Take Wing was awesome, and I can't wait for the next one!

On this field trip called "Words take Wing" was awesome. At first we saw a person named Danny and he said that before in his tribe they're parents would take away their drums. The kids played music with whatever they had, so Danny got a box and played a song called "Flow" and it was amazing. Later there was this woman that talked about her father that pasted away 14 years ago and the father's old days was that his mom would give him a quarter and send him to the store to buy hamburger meat. When he got there he found Snicker bars for 5 cents and 25 dived by five equals five! So he bought five Snicker bars. The candy got him in really big trouble. So then the woman said that when she shouts you school name say whoop. When she called our school I said whoop really loudly! After that Joseph Bruchac came!! He came with a flute. Then he played the drums and all of clapped so loud. Then Joseph talked about this story a long time ago. There was this husband and wife who lived in a cottage. One day the wife saw a big monster.... who was the grandfather. So she took him by the hand and into the house. The husband thought his wife was in trouble so he pointed the arrow at the monster. The wife said to the husband, "Put your bow down. This is my grandfather." "I've should have known more about my wife before we married." said the husband. The wife made a big bowl of hot soup and she gave it to the monster it was hot so he gave it back. The wife put more and the monster gave it back the she gave the entire bowl to the monster and the monster fell on the ground. The monster was not a monster anymore, it was a human... a grandfather! The grand father said, "The bowl of soup melted my heart

and now I am proud to be a grandparent." So that was the performance. It was and awesome day. I can't wait for the next field trip! Bye!!

Today we have learned that girls can actually be smarter than boys. Joseph Bruchac played the flute and told us very cool stories. And we also saw a guy named Daniel go on stage and preform lots of drum beats for us. Lots of schools came to see Joseph Bruchac. That's what we did on our field trip.
