Question- “To what extent are we all witnesses of history and messengers to humanity”

Throughout the beginning of the story which in turn goes into detail about what has occurred
and happened. The German secret police force which were in charge of his train, led everyone
into the woods, and systematically butchered them. Nobody believes Moishe, who is taken for a
lunatic.Jews of Eliezer’s town are forced into small ghettos within Sighet. Soon they are herded
into cattle cars, and a nightmarish journey ensues. After days and nights crammed into the car,
exhausted and near starvation, the passengers arrive at Birkenau, the gateway to Auschwitz.
Eliezer and his father are separated from his mother and sisters, whom they never see again.
In the first of many “selections” that Eliezer describes in the memoir, the Jews are evaluated to
determine whether they should be killed immediately or put to work. Eliezer and his father seem
to pass the evaluation, but before they are brought to the prisoners’ barracks, they stumble
upon the open-pit furnaces where the Nazis are burning babies by the truckload. We as people have to be tellers of history and say wheat we have witnessed in order fro future generations to u understand their past. We must learn from our mistakes.

Public mass shootings account for a tiny fraction of the country’s gun deaths, but they are uniquely terrifying because they occur without warning in the most mundane places. Most of the victims are chosen not for what they have done but simply for where they happen to be. Just like in the story “Night” all of those poor Jews were picked randomly to either live as slaves or die by the hands of Germany’s for simply doing nothing wrong. “people who were killed came from nearly every imaginable race, religion and socioeconomic background. Their ages range from the unborn to the elderly; 186 were children and teenagers. In addition, thousands of survivors were left with devastating injuries, shattered families and psychological scars.”

In my own life I think I can relate this question with the experiences I go through and the trials I face and lessons i learn everyday within myself. Personally I think from the history we learn about in school is what teaches us about our past and those before us. That is a learning experience we must take in from within, we may not of been able to be there and experience it ourselves but being able to read about it and feel what they felt thought emotions is what I think makes us all witnesses of humanity and of history itself. I myself am a witness by all of the conflict going on in today’s society. Later in my life it will be new history being learned to later generation way after I am dead as well.

The Jewish arrivals are stripped, shaved, disinfected, and treated with almost unimaginable cruelty. Eventually, their captors march them from Birkenau to the main camp, Auschwitz. There were many examples being played out through the story about the Jews and the life they lived and what exactly happened to them. “Never shall I forget that night, the first night in camp, which has turned my life into one long night, seven times cursed and seven times sealed” The prisoners are forced to watch the hanging of fellow prisoners in the camp courtyard. Even having to go through watching a small child die before their eyes who was always around the rebels themselves. “One day I was able to get up, after gathering all my strength. I wanted to see myself in the mirror hanging on the opposite wall. I had not seen myself since the ghetto. From the depths of the mirror, a corpse gazed back at me. The look in his eyes, as they stared into mine, has never left me.” this is saying he is consumed with hopelessness. Eliezer views himself as dead; innocence is dead; humanity is dead; God is dead

We all need to be, and are born to be witnesses to our history. There is no reason why somebody should ignore what has happened in the human history. The holocaust is one of these things. We all witness this tragic event un and there have been people to tell the story just like Eliezer Wiesel. Whether that be firs person or from a different generations view. To become one messengers to humanity, someone must learn and absorb all that they can from a past event, such as the genocide of the Jews. Being able to learn these things and understand and feel for others of what had happened give them power to say what’s right and wrong to not do it every again. We, as humans can not repeat the horrible history we have learned. We cannot let the horrors of the holocaust happen ever again to a group of people.

The number of mass shootings around the country in 2018 has risen above 300 so far. According to data from the Gun Violence Archive, a total of 323 mass shooting incidents have occurred as of November 28, But the thing with this subject is that the FBI do not consider any kind of shooting a mass shooting unless 3 or more people have died, doesn't matter how many injured. This topic relates to my question in the sense that this will be talked about and remembered years and years and many years from now. In the book he says he will get out and be free "Yet another last night. The last night at home, the last night in the ghetto, the last night in the train, the last night in Buna". this is showing when he will start his new life away from all of the darkness he went through. over time he will be able to get the courage to tell his story of what happened.
We have to stop gun violence let it be just another mistake the human race has made as another story to tell in the future of what we went though what those people went through.
