This poem talks about how you should let go whatever hurts you no matter how much it hurts you. Which this can rate to Cory and his dads relationship with each other. At the end of the movie Cory didn't want to go to his own dads funeral but his mom told him he needed to let go of the bad stuff. As he got older his father really wasn't there for him as in to support him or people him accomplish his dream of being a football player.

After Troy said he was seeing another woman the family's relationship was getting rocky because Rose had to help raise the baby. Love held the family together even tho Troy cheated on Rose with another woman. Even tho Troy did cheat on Rose he still had love for the family and his new daughter. Maybe Troy loved too much of himself to realize how much damage it did to Rose when he cheated. "A man is supposed to take care of his family". They both have to do with families and them going through struggles together but still has love for one another. They're some differences between the two of them like what happened to them family. The characters are very different from each other but still somewhat similar. 
An example of similarity is how they both didn't have enough money. In "Fences" they were tight on money but in "Raisin in the Sun" they got their money stolen. A difference in both of is how they betrayed their family. Troy cheated on his wife and got a girl pregnant but Walter went and took all of this money for his store.
