The theme of “The Story of Keesh” is if you don’t do it, nobody else will. In the text it states “As I say, though Bok be dead because he hunted over-keenly, it is just that I, who am his son, and that Ikeega, who is my mother and was his wife, should have meat in plenty so long as there be meat in plenty in the tribe.” In the text it also states “They ordered him to bed, threatened that he should have no meat at all, and promised him sore beatings for his presumption.” This evidence shows that when Keesh first went to council and requested for more meat he was met with harsh words and threats. In the eyes of the council no boy should be making a request to the council. To their surprise Keesh was not only able to get meat for himself but the whole village. I know this because in the text it states “Because he exercised headcraft and not witchcraft, he rose from the meanest IGLOO to be head man of his village, and through all the years that he lived, it is related, his tribe was prosperous, and neither widow nor weak one cried aloud in the night because there was no meat.” If Keesh didn’t set out to hunt for his own food he probably would’ve starved. In conclusion, the theme of “The Story of Keesh” is if you don’t do it, nobody else will.

The theme of "The Story of Keesh" don't judge a book by its cover. In the text it says " Na Na, the men cried. put the child out. send off to bed. He is no man that should talk to men and graybeards." this shows they think Keesh is a weak child who can't accomplish anything because he doesn't have a beard. another thing it says in the text is " There is much meat on the ice- a she bear and two half grown cubs." This shows Keesh proofed the men wrong because he killed a mother bear and two half grown cubs. This is why a theme for "The Story of Keesh" is don't judge a book by its cover.

The theme that is developed in "The Story of Keesh", is about inequality. For example in the passage it states, " And his father had done before him, he saw it that the least old woman and the last old woman and the last old man received a fair portion", this shows Keesh's principle that each person should in the community should have equal share of meat meaning there was inequality before which Keesh wanted to fix. Furthermore it also states, "Na! Na!" the men cried. "Put the child out!" "Send him off the bed!" "He is no man that he should talk to men and graybeards!". This shows the council members treating him different and unfairly. Because of his appearance and his age. Which shows inequality.

The theme developed in "The Story of Keesh" is to never let anything or anyone bring you down no matter how old you are. In the story it says "Shall the babes in arms tell us men the things we shall do?" and "Am I a man that I should be made a mock by every child that cries for meat" this shows how the men were bringing Keesh down and not treating him right because he was a child. But Keesh doesn't let that get to him or stop him. It also says "Take this now, ye men, for my last word. Bok, my father, was a great hunter. I, too, his son, shall go and hunt the meat that i eat." this shows how Keesh doesn't let the things the men in the council say bring him down and it shows how he has the courage to do stuff for himself.

The theme that is developed through out " The Story of Keesh " is that sometimes you have to take matters into your own hands. Keesh wasn't getting a fair amount of meat so he took matters into his own hands by hunting for animals by himself. For example, in "the Story of Keesh", it states, " ... Those who saw him go noted that he carried his bow, with a goodly supply of boned-barbed arrows, and that across his shoulder was his father's big hunting spear." This shows that he was determined and was inspired by his father to help the village. Another example is, "I, too, his son, shall go and hunt the meat that I eat. And be it known now, that the division of that which I kill shall be fair." This shows that Keesh took matters in his owns hands because the men in the council wasn't being fair. He decided to get his own meat, killing a she-bear and her cubs, saving his village just like his father did.

In "The Story Of Keesh" the theme is treat others how you want to be treated. . In the story, it says "The father of Keesh had been a very brave man, but he had met his death in a time of famine when he sought to save the lives of his people by taking the life of a great polar bear." This quote shows that Keeshs father had become the hero of the community by sacrificing himself to help the Village because he wanted to help the other people in the Village. Adding on the story also states "None the less, his success continued, and the less skillful hunters were often kept busy hauling in his meat. And in the division of it, he was just. As his father had done before him, he saw to it that the least old woman and the last old man received a fair portion, keeping no more for himself than his needs required. And because of this, and of his merit as a hunter, he was looked upon with respect". This quote shows that Keesh would get meat for himself, as well as the people in the village because he knew that not everyone in the Village was fortunate enough to have enough meat to survive.

In "The Story of Keesh" the theme developed in the text is that you shouldn't judge people by the way they look of how old they are but by their actions and behaviors. For example in the text it states "Naah! Naah!” the hunters cried. “Put the child out! Send him to bed. He should not talk to gray-beards this way!” meaning that because he was a child and the hunters were elderly to Keesh they doubted Keesh could hunt as well as them. Also they doubted Keesh since they trained to become as good as a hunter they are. Additionally it stated "We want to know how you did it.” Did you use magic and witchcraft?” meaning that even though Keesh obtained the meat from the mother bear they still doubted hem by making up reasons on why they shouldn't accept his meat. Lastly once Keesh proved his meat did not have witchcraft included they agreed to build him the better igloo he wished for as he lived in the "meanest" one. Therefore, the theme developed in the text was that you shouldn't judge people based off of their looks before you really know who there are.

The theme developed in the story of Keesh is sacrifice that should not be forgotten. in the text it states "as we journeyed on the trail of Keesh and cunningly we journeyed, so that he might not know and midway of the first day he picked up with a great he bear it was a very great bear". This evidence shows how Keesh was willing to fight a very great bear as they said in the story for meat so that he and his whole tribe can eat he his basically sacrificing himself so everyone can eat. also Keesh adds on to my theme by " Keesh jumped to his feet hear me hear me he cried i shall go hunt eat like my father" this shows how Keesh is sacrificing himself because he knows his dad was a grown up and even died hunting and he wasn't to hunt to even though he is a kid. This is the theme of the story of Keesh.

The theme that is developed in the story of keesh is that You always carry the legacy of your family. In paragraph 7 it states It is said that Bok brought home more meat that any of the two best hunters. I put this sentence because in the next sentence it shows how keesh is a hunter like his father. In paragraph 23 it States The men could not bring themselves to believe that the boy keesh, single- handed, had accomplished so great marvel. But the women spoke of the fresh-killed meat he had brought back. This shows how keesh can fulfil his fathers legacy because he did the same thing his father did when the older men doubted him.

The theme of, "The Story Of Keesh" is that you should not have bad judgement towards others. The council looked down at Keesh because he was a 13 year old boy and did not even bother to take him serious. In the text it states, "They ordered him to bed, threatened that he should have no meat at all, and promised him sore beatings for his presumption." This line proves that as Keesh was speaking to them like a man, they decided that instead he was being disrespectful. The text also states, "Keesh strode into the village. But he came not shamefacedly. Across his shoulders he bore a burden of fresh-killed meat. And there was importance in his step and arrogance in his speech." "There was much doubt at first, much doubt and discussion." "The men could not bring themselves to believe that the boy Keesh, single-handed, had accomplished so great a marvel." This shows that you should not have bad judgement or doubt people like how the council did with Keesh, because afterwards Keesh ended up being a great hunter.

In "The Story of Keesh", a theme developed in the story is the hero should never be forgotten. In the text it says "But people are prone to forget, and they forgot the deed of his dead father; and he being but a boy, and his mother only a woman, they, too, were swiftly forgotten." This shows that even though his father risked his life and died to save the villagers, they forgot what he had done and treated Keesh and his mother poorly. It also states in the text "As his father had done before him, he saw to it that the least old woman and the last old man received a fair portion, keeping no more for himself that his needs required. And because of this, and the merit as a hunter, he was looked upon with respect, and even awe; and there was talk of making him chief after old Klosh-Kwan." This shows that even after the villagers and the council treated Keesh and his mother poorly, Keesh proved them wrong by showing what he was capable of and following in his fathers footsteps.

In the text it says " Am I a man that should be made a mock by every child that cries for meat?" This shows that the elders thought just because he was a kid and they were adults, what he said was inconsequential. Later in the text Keesh decides to take matters into his own hands and prove himself. It is then stated in the text " But arrived at the spot, they found not only the kill, which they doubted, but that Keesh had quartered the beasts in true hunter fashion, and removed the entrails." This shows how they doubted him and he proved them wrong. Not only by doing a mans job of hunting and removing the entrails, but succeeding. He did this all while being a " child that cries for meat".

In “The Story Of Keesh” the theme that is developed throughout the story is nothing ventured, nothing gained. This means you can’t expect to achieve anything if you never take risks. In paragraph 10 it states” as i as, though Bok be dead because he hunted over keenly, it is just that I, who am his son, and that ikeega who is my mother and was his wife, should have meat in plenty so long as there be meat in plenty in the tribe”. This quote shows that instead of keesh sitting at home doing nothing, he decides to take action and responsible of hunting for fair proportions. Another piece of evidence stated in paragraph 14-16 “ and be it known, now, that the division of that which I kill shall be fair”....the next day he went forth along the shoreline where the ice and the land met together”. This shows that keesh uphold’s his promises and ventures out to hunt for equal proportions of meat. Later on in the story keesh gains respect and leadership of the tribe.

In the text it states "Keesh said, “My father, Bok, was a great hunter...“Put the child out! Send him to bed... “Never shall I speak in the council igloo again. I shall go hunt meat like my father, Bok.” So here he was trying to state his idea but the council didn't agree with it. So now he is taking matters into his own hands and will try to get food for everyone. In the text it also states "Early next morning, Keesh walked into the village. Across his shoulders was fresh meat...Keesh continued to bring meat to the village. Some people thought he was a great hunter." Since the council didn't think he would be able to do this, he proved to them that he was a worthy hunter. As you can see the theme is that you should fight for what you want.

The theme of "The Story of Keesh" is that you cannot judge a book by it's cover. In the story, it showed that Keesh wanted to fulfill his father's legacy and he would hunt a polar bear for the village. But the council doubted that Keesh could even kill a polar bear because he is just a boy. In the passage it states "Bok, my father, was a great hunter. I, too, his son, shall go and hunt the meat i eat." This shows that Keesh wanted to fulfill his father's legacy. In the test it also says "Jeers and scornful laughter followed him out of the igloo, but his jaw is set and he went this way." This showed that the council doubted him and laughed at him because he was a child and would be a scared to encounter a polar bear. Another evidence from the text says "let him go; it will teach him a lesson," the hunters said. " And he will come back shortly, and he will be meek and soft and speech in the days to follow." This showed that the people doubted he would kill a polar bear and will come back. In the passage it also states "But a day passed, and a second, and on the third a wild gale blew, and there was no Keesh." This showed that Keesh wasn't scared of polar bears, and he didn't came back scared. These evidence shows that Keesh was doubted to hunt a polar bear, but he actually did it, which proves that you mustn't judge a book by it's cover.

The story included "Keesh started out for the shore, where the land meets the ice. Those who watched saw that he carried his bow and many arrows... Again there was laughter" and was then followed by "Early next morning, Keesh walked into the village. Across his shoulders was fresh meat." This shows that Keesh had gone to hunt for food, and through his hunting skills, which requires hard work, he returned with a great amount of food. The story also includes "On his next trip, he killed a young bear…and on the following trip, a large male bear and its mate." This shows that his hard work payed off and his skills were great, being able to kill multiple bears with consistency. This demonstrates that due to his hard work, he was able to achieve great things.

The theme developed in "The Story of Keesh" is that you should fight for what you think is right and take matters into your own hands. For example, Keesh wasnt getting a fair amount of meat so he took matter into his own hands and went out to hunt for animals himself. The text states, " One said that even if Keesh had killed the bear, he probably had not cut the meat into pieces. But when the men arrived, they found that Keesh had not only killed the bear, but had also cut it into pieces, just like a grown hunter." This shows how Keesh went hunting for meat even through the people in his village doubted him. Another example, is when the text stated "Early next morning, Keesh walked into the village. Across his shoulders was fresh meat. “Go you men, with dogs and sleds. Follow my footsteps. Travel for a day,” he said. “There is much meat on the ice. A she-bear and her two cubs.”" This also proves how Keesh proved the council wrong when they disagreed with the fact Keesh would be able to hunt animals down for meat. This proves the theme of how Keesh took matters into his own hands and hunted for more meat.

The theme developed in "The Story Of Keesh" by Jack London is about how you can rise to greatness even under to most perilous of circumstances. "But the people were prone to forget , and they forgot the deed of his father; and he being but a boy, and his mother but a women, they, too, were swiftly forgotten, and ere long came to live in the meanest of all igloos" This part of the story shows that Keesh started off in an unfortunate situation, he had lost his father at such a young age, only for the people that his father sacrificed his life for to forget about him and send him to live in "the meanest of all igloos". "When Keesh arrived a messenger was sent to him, bidding him come to the council. But he sent reply, saying that he was hungry and tired; also that his igloo was large and comfortable and could hold many men. And curiosity was so strong on the men that the whole council, Klosh-Kwan to the fore, rose up and went to the igloo of Keesh." This shows that Keesh rose to such importance that the head chief themselves came to his house without opposition. To conclude, a theme developed in "The Story Of Keesh" by Jack London is that you can be victorious no matter the circumstances you started out in.

The theme of "The Story Of Keesh" is remember each sacrifice. In the story it says "The father of Keesh had been a very brave man, but he had met his death in a time of famine, when he sought to save the lives of his people by taking the life of a great polar bear" this shows how Keesh's father died by hunting for food. This also shows how he was brave because he went hunting to save his peoples lives and put his in danger and he died. In the text it also states "But Keesh walked right up to the bear" this shows how Keesh was also brave enough to walk up to the bear just like his father was and he died. This means his sacrifice should not be forgotten because he died by hunting for his people.

I think the theme of the "The Story of Keesh" is no matter how long ago, sacrifices should not be forgotten. Even thought the villagers and the council forgot about Keesh's father's sacrifice, Keesh carried his legacy and shared his meat with them. In the text it says, "...was headman of his village through many and prosperous years, and died full of honors with his name on the lips of men". This shows how Keesh became a legend after fulfilled his father's legacy. The text also states, "...for the telling of Keesh, from the poorest igloo in the village, rose to power and place over them all". This quote illustrates Keesh's humble background and his origins; where he started and where he is now.

In "The Story of Keesh" by Jack London the theme is to never underestimate someone because you never know what they are capable of. In the text it states "But arrived at the spot, they found not only the kill, which they doubted, but that Keesh had quartered the beasts in true hunter fashion, and removed the entrails". This shows that even though they doubted Keesh constantly Keesh still proved them wrong. In the text it also states "Naah! Naah!” the hunters cried. “Put the child out! Send him to bed. He should not talk to gray-beards this way!". This shows that they truly underestimated him since he was a kid but little did they know he would become a great hunter and head chief in the near future. This shows that even though Keesh was constantly doubted he did great things.

The theme that is developed within "The Story of Keesh" by Jack London is that working your hardest can allow you to achieve new heights. In the text London writes "I too, his son, shall go and hunt the meat that I eat. And be it known, now, that the division of which that I kill shall be fair. And no widow nor weak one shall cry in the night because there is no meat, when the strong men are groaning in great pain for that they have eaten overmuch. And in the days to come there shall be shame upon the strong men who have eaten overmuch. I, Keesh, have said it!" This expresses how Keesh wants to alter the unjust system that is emplaced in his village. The text also states that "The next day he went forth along the shoreline where the ice and land met together. Those who saw him go noted that he carried his bow, with a goodly supply of bone-barbed arrows, and that across his shoulder was his father's big hunting spear." This sentence is shown to visualize Keesh's work ethic as he promised the council he would cause change among the village. This proves why the general theme of "The Story of Keesh" is centered around working hard.

The theme brought out in "The Story of Keesh" is that with hard work and dedication, you can achieve success. Keesh started at the bottom of his tribe, the text says that "he being but a boy, and his mother only a woman, they, too, were swiftly forgotten, and here long came to live in the meanest of all igloos”. This shows that keesh and his mother lived in the worst igloos in all the village. And he must work hard to achieve success. he does eventually achieve very high success though.
For example, in the text it says that "He was looked upon with respect, and even awe; and there was talk of making chief after old Klosh-Kwan" This shows that Keesh achieved high success. and that the theme is that when you work hard, you can achieve success.

The theme in "The Story of Keesh" is sacrificing things to protect people and also remembering people. For example, in "The Story of Keesh", Keesh's father sacrificed his life to save his people. In the text, it says "The father of Keesh had been a very brave man, but he had met his death in a time of a great polar bear. In his eagerness he came to close grapples with the bear, and his bones were crushed; but the bear had much meat on him and the people were saved." This quote shows how Keesh's father died trying to save his people from a polar bear. "The Story of Keesh" also shows the theme of remembrance. This is because, Keesh did the same things that his father did, like giving everyone a fair share of food and hunting, and carried out his father's legacy. In the text, Keesh says "For I know that my father, Bok, was a great hunter, I speak these words. It is said that Bok brought home more meat than any of the two best hunters, that with his own hands he attended to the division of it, that with his own eyes he saw to it that the least old woman and the last old man received fair shair." This shows Keesh talking about his father and what he did.

I think the theme that was developed in “The Story of Keesh” is not to underestimate people’s abilities and to be kind and giving. Throughout the whole story the villagers made snarky remarks and made fun of Keesh. They didn’t think that he could be bring such a great amount of food back home by himself. They laughed at him when he said that he would bring back enough food for everyone in the village. “They laughed at Keesh and followed him out of the igloo, shouting at him.” Keesh was also kind and generous When he asked for more food the villagers at the council meeting said “Shall a child tell us how to act!’ he demanded loudly... Must I listen to every child who cries for food?” “They threatened to punish him by not giving him any food at all.” When Keesh asked for a fair portion the villagers were enraged and thought that he didn’t deserve it because he was a child. Even though Keesh was getting backlash from the other people he was still kind and shared his meat with others that needed it. "...he saw that the least old woman and the last old man received a fair portion, keeping no more for himself than his needs required.” Keesh was giving out his food even though he didn’t have that much just so the old man and woman could have a fair amount of food to eat. Keesh was brave, king and giving.
