There can be numerous ways to teach sequencing from this book. For example for the 4-5 age group could be taught sequencing figuring out the beginning, middle and end. For the visual aspect of teaching this book for the 4-5 age group the teacher could use a chart with cut outs of pictures and asking the students to put them in a timeline.For the 6-7 age group the student could be asked to put the things the old lady swallowed in order. All the items not just beginning middle and end. The students would have to use their critical thinking skills to recall the order of the final results being a scarecrow. Another way to related this book to art is using it to associate leaves with fall. A strength from the book would be the colorful illustrations, the perfect time to read this book would be fall. It is a good visual way to show how changing leaves indicate fall.
2. Another strength from the book would be children remain engaged and focus if the book causes laughter.

A weakness for this book would be the children who are in the 4-5 age group would think that it is okay to swallow all these items. During this age they are probably still being told not to put things in their mouth.

Using a child's imagination and not only focusing on what's the right way to do something. The art of being creative is thinking outside the normal.
