A character trait to describe Auggie is self-conscious. Auggie states, "I didn't want to look at her face" (Palacio 18). Auggie keeps his head down so Mrs. Garcia can't see his face. Auggie thinks he is ugly because of his deformed face. Another character trait to describe Auggie is brave. Auggie states, "Were a lot smaller then you guys" (Palacio 266). Auggie stood up for him and Jack. A boy named Eddie started bullying them and Auggie was brave.
